225 bhp cool i would be intersted in the bigger none oem intercooler pics,
well done nice job but its a long way to go from the uk just to have your car tuned when theres plenty of good tuners in the uk. but nice job well done. |

All right Ladies and Gents, short update on this...
Contacted Masters Tuning asking how is the car since mod has been done in Sep '06. Apparently it has 60000 km on clock now. No problems reported with clutch and any other parts. As stated in my first post, car is currently runing 226 HP. IC (intercooler) was custom made ad hoc for about 200 pounds by one of radiator repairers in Warsaw. It's core came from some truck (not specified). When it comes to brakes. They are very efficient, however pads lasted for 5000km when used hard I am afraid it will be hard to find out more details without following in that guy's steps with modifications. The proper documentation can be made at that time or at least more accurate info on intercooler collected. And yes, I have asked if there are any more pictures of the IC installation Wojtek |

IWANTACIVIC: Some people travelled to Greece in their Civics and it's much longer journey than to Warsaw...
In fact I can tell you how long it took me last summer to get home - ferry Hull-Rotterdam - 1 night. Left Rotterdam at about 08:30 and about 22:00 was in suburbs of Warsaw. No rush, driving around 120-130 km/h. You must admit it's not bad at all... And Poland is beautiful country to see as well... |

That's amazing. I knew the 2.2 had a lot of potential; I thought Pottsy had found the boundary of that potential with a remap up to 185bhp, but 226 is awesome! I want one of these care more than ever now. I've often thought about changing the air intakes on diesels to improve performance, but all the people I spoke to about it just couldn't comment as they had no idea if it would help or not. I just knew my 306 went a damn sight better in colder weather. Finally it's been proved.
Something I'm really curious about - does anyone have any post-remap/tune 0-62mph figures!?!? I'd love to know what the 0-62 is on that 226bhp car! Bob |

How about this for a different way of improving the performance of the Diesel Nitrous and Propane Diesel Injection Kits | Parleys Diesel Performance.com don't know anything about except what I've read on the link, was pointed to it by a friend. Could be interesting. I am quite surprised it an american site as diesels aren't as big in America as over here.

They fitted a Nitrous kit to a Mark 3 (I think) Golf on Top Gear. It went like a rocket and they reckoned the pressures involved were well within tolerance as the engine blocks were designed to take much higher pressures. Or something like that. Don't know about the more modern common rail engines tho'... The one on top gear, I'm pretty sure, was pre-common rail.

Quite right about the effective torque from dumping a clutch - it's an order of magnitude greater than normal torque delivery. You can quite easily pop an inner CV joint under the stress of dumping the clutch, engine mounts are also at significant risk. Auto boxes usually cope poorly with increased torque due to the fact the amount of slip increases beyond design limits and generates more heat in the box oil which usually doesn't have enough cooling capacity to handle the sustained increase.
I drive a Focus ST and some people at focusstoc.com have increased their torque to as much as 590Nm and 335 PS. I don't there have been any huge problems with the gearbox - drive shafts have been a problem, but they have been going on standard cars too (inlcuding mine) cars built after March 07 have a revised (stronger) CV joint and shaft design to cope. |

i was looking at the standard intercooler and it isnt that big (just inside the bumper infront of the offside front wheel. you can see it through a little grille in the wheelarch) im sure a nice big intercooler can fit in front of the radiator inside the front intake. there is loads of space and im sure there is a intercooler on the market that will fit! just have to mess around with the intake pipe routing.
wonder what the gains would be on a standard civic? |
