I Shift gear changes + clutch slipping

Hi everybody my 1.8 i shift seems to change gear too early , in all gears it changes leaving the car running at 1500 revs at most sometimes it chages and leaves it running at 1300 revs , i think this is too low as an engine isnt running correctly till it reaches 1700 revs (or so i was told by jeremy clarkson) (top gear) also if you put your foot very gently on the accelarater it judders as if it wants to change gear and occasionaly it feels like the clutch is slipping which shoots the car forwards which isnt so clever if your in a traffic jam. Also the tick over / idle speed is 700revs is any of this normal.Any info will be gratly appreciated . Rick

p.s im still very happy with the car.

I don't think there is anything wrong with the tickover speed, I can't answer for the I Shift though.

Driving in auto, it does sometimes shift up quite early if you are driving with a light throttle, but I have never kept an eye of the rev counter so I don't know at what revs.
As to jerky progress in traffic, there is a 'feature' of this box that might be worth knowing about.

However, try to stand on a slight slope - if you do not touch anything car will hold, or even creep forward. Now *gently* touch brakes - only so that brake lights turn on - car will start rolling backwards.
When brakes are on, clutch is all the way disengaged.
Creeping forward is feature to make parking easier.
As for Jeremy Clarkson, what does he know about cars.

Sounds like a sticking clutch. Get onto your dealer asap. I don't think that problem can be fixed here.
