different power 2.2 diesel engines
I'm about to buy a new civic 2.2 i-ctdi in one of the next months. Yesterday, i was told by my own Honda dealer that there's a lot of difference between one 2.2 ictdi and anonther 2.2 ictdi engine. One can have (standard) 160 hp (instead of 140) while another one only has 120 hp. Reason for that should be the settings of the turbo. "you should have some luck" he said.... This seems so un-Honda to me. Anyone any experience ?

Sure engines will differ, but a 40hp spread och a 140hp engine?
No chance. Not even from Swindon. Ask him for documented tests that verify his statement. I just canīt understand why on earth he would say this? |

from my experience the actual knowledge of car sales people i severely lacking. It seems very few now coming trends of upgrades to spec nor models.
Im not saying all, but even a avid reader of a car mag will know more. Sales is all about numbers and volume and often if not always iv known more than sales people in dealerships apart from info they are privvy to like waiting times for a car. Also reading this forum you learn so much and sellers often learn of things when they get an email from head office |

I agree with all of the above. And most of them are not only ignorant, but also arrogant, a combination which I donīt care too much for. But in this case, the sales guy is saying that the product is bad! They donīt usually do that.... |

I've heard "rumours" that the output when new is about 140bhp but after the engine has loosened up after about 6000 miles the ouput can be 155bhp+, sometimes topping 170bhp

I think 170 would be a little optimistic, although 150 is easily possible, some people have had their car on a rolling road and recorded 148-150bgp.
