The slower the better, for economy. How slow can you bear going? That's the answer...

How much out are the normal (analog) speedos?

I.e. If I was going 70mph (speedo reading) and someone in the other lane was doing 70mph on their dial, would they be pulling away from me?

Usually set mine to 67 - 69 mph. Tend to see could economy out of it!
Apart from when I choose to boot it down the M3 slip road

Know exactly what you mean. If it's any help the best I've done (with not really caring about it) is London to Somerset (a bit around town) then Somerset back to London - got 470 odd miles out of a tank full.

Might try to see what i can do driving sensibly one week! But for now I'm enjoying having a toy to play with

Done a few long m/way runs and with an ave speed of 81mph (indicated on the trip) car quoted 39.2 which equated to an actual of 37.7. That's probably a bit too quick when cruising for ecomomy. if you stay around 80 you'd expect to get 40 to 45.

I have done many long trips abroad, but i wasnt bothered about the economy then as the diesel was dirt cheap compared to here.

But now the football season is back i've got many long trips in england to do.

Best fuel economy you'll get around 90km/h.
Upto 120km/h it's still very reasonable, over 130km/h petrol usage starts climbing.
Over 160km/h and fuel usage starts skyrocketing

oh so is MC Hammer

Speed limit on motorways is 70mph
( no reason to speed - plus even with todays modern cars is takes longer to stop from
80 than 70 Mph)
