Injector leak but has stopped?

Hi all,

I'm new to this forum and a proud owner of a civic 2.2 cdti EX. I just had a service done and noticed that my car makes a funny noise thought it was belt but turned out to be a leaking injector seal. Now my mechanic tightened it a lil and didn't cure it as it didn't really tighten anymore. I've read up on here it is quite common. I just ordered a new seal from cox motors but the noise has stopped. What I'd like to know is if it's stopped should I leave it or still get it changed as it sounds like it could b a tricky job?

Any help appreciated.

hi jdmtme,
i had the same problem with mine, ive since had all 4 injector seals replaced, when the first one went my wife was driving and heard noise from engine ,then smoke and a burning smell, fuel leaking onto hot engine, breakdown guy tightened injector but advised to get dealer to check it,

dealer replaced first injector seal only but about a month later another seal went,i was getting a terrible smell coming into car and gave me sore eyes if i was driving any distance.

after a bit off hassle the dealer eventually got the go ahead to replace all 4 injector seals under the extened warranty i have but in the process broke 2 injectors trying to remove them, they had to order in some special injector removal tool as the carbon builds up around the leak the injectors become solid onto the alloy head.the dealer also managed to crack my windscreen while doing this job,i got everything done under the warranty but there is a risk that injectors or head can get damaged while replacing seals,i think injectors are about £300 each.

i could hear the leak in my car,off throttle around 1500 rpm i could hear a rattle type sound,http://www.civinfo.com/forum/attachm...1video_001.mpg

2 injectors broken

hopefully youll get sorted with no problems and dont get the nightmare i had,if i never had an extended warranty i would have been well over a £1000 to repair

I read ** threads and thought this is gona b a nightmare >.< I'm still awaiting new seal and hopefully my local mechanics can sort it. Don't like the sound of breaking the injector tho lol I have no warranty on car as its an 06 plate but does have fully service history. I test drove 4 in total and 3 had same noise apart from one which looked like a wreck and high mileage. Will keep it posted how it all goes >.<

Right I have had the problem sorted for about 3 months and now the leak is back -.- I didn't go to dealers but I've had my local who tried to but decided not to since worried he might break the infective which I understood. I then went to dealers who quoted me £600+vat but would need a special tool. I then got recommend to a injector specialist and they did they job. I got car back and yeah sorted now leaking noise and no horrible smell in cockpit. Yesterday smell came back and so is the noise -.-

Can someone recommend me a place or worse case send it to Honda and get stung >.<

I thought that but had it check and u can blatantly hear the noise from the leaking injector. It's mega obvious the noise. I think it's even louder then it was before.

Just one but actually discovered that is wasn't injector 2 it's not injector 3. Don't feel so bad but annoyed its happened again. I have just ordered 4 new seals from cox's. so might get all 4 changed again or just the one. Don't think it's wise to change if its not broken.

I paid about £70 and dude said stripped, cleaned injector reseated seal and refit. Couldn't complain about price. I would recommend now knowing wasn't same injector >.<

If one goes it probably wont be long for theothers to follow and possibly seize.
Better off getting all 4 done at the same time especially at that price.

Got car back today with only Injector 2 & 3 changed. Injector 3 was the leaking one this time, wanted to change all 4 but chap said 1 & 4 wouldn't come out unless break them and said didn't want to since they aren't leaking. I can't complain since it has stopped and all for £90.

Would recommend if anyone has same issue and in the East Midlands, Leicester.
