Hi all,
Just changed my air filter on my 2.2 and noticed a split of abt 4cm in one of the coregated folds in the air flow tube. Is this detremental in any way? Looks complicated to replace as 2 pipes (I think water pipes to feed heater matrix?) are in the way so from what I can make out they will have to be removed to gain access to the engine side of the air flow tube! I am thinking perhaps seal with a bead of silicone automotive sealant? Has anyone changed there air flow tube?, any hints or tips? Many thanks in advance John |

Replace the tube. The silicon could be ingested and cause serious engine damage . As an interim fix maybe a few loops of duct tape.
Yes it is important it is fixed as the car is taking in unmetered air which affects the air fuel calculation |

Thank you for your response.
Now for the next question, shall I replace it myself or shall I take it to a Honda dealer to replace? Has anyone replaced this part themselves? |

The clamp is normally unscrewed from over the top of the engine with a very long screwdriver.
Neve got round to changing mine....but had a good luck. |

Hi Relic,
Thank you for your answer. From what I can see from listers its about £37.00 for the air flow pipe. I never thought of that, will have to have a look. I take it the O ring has a special design to allow loosening from the top rather than the side? For £37 odd quid, its worth checking and changing if ned be as mine has perished from the side facing me so obvious but others may perish on a side that isnt directly visible! Just out of curiousity how would it be detremental in terms of impact on driving? |

Item 7 Its just a worm drive clip (items 11 and 12). Its the same mechanism as the end that connects to the airbox. You can use socket or small head phillips screwdriver. |
