p2004, fault code, error code. help!

Hi guys...

I've got a 07 reg diesel car with 60k on the clock...

Over the last few weeks ive been getting this error code pop up on my car. Only happens occasionally but while im going at a steady speed if i try to speed up by a small amount i'll get a small hesitation.

The check engine light comes on and after a day it goes off again.....

Any ideas what i need to replace?

The odbii data info says "P2004 = INTAKE MANIFOLD RUNNER CONTROL STUCK OPEN" hummmm...

Also ive done a search and some guy changed a "faulty IMRC solenoid"... whats that?...

Help please...

Thanks in advance

Jav

From what you've written, the IMRC solenoid is your Intake Manifold Runner Control.....which I think is used to optimise air flow into the engine for performance/economy. The solenoid will control how far the valve opens and therefore how much air the engine receives. If it was faulty, that would explain the hesitation in response as the valve must be sticking, then releasing suddenly.
I'd try and find a replacement solenoid. Honda is possibly the best bet for that
Good luck

All the answers are in here, very common problem. You may need to register to see the pics, very easy part to replace and you might even get away with just replacing the little black filter

Drop me a line to discuss, before tuning I would check the IMRC with a functional test. It can sometimes be successfully closed as part of an EGR OFF, but we won't know until we try as it really depends on the condition of the part. File Only not recommended in this scenario.
