57i kit

Hi all
About a year ago I installed a 57i induction kit it was mainly for sound purposes lol I'm now more worried about fuel economy and response, I don't think there is a major difference but wanted other opinions, or facts weather the kit gives u better fuel? Response? Much extra power I know your talking mabie 1-2bhp if so lol
Any info will really help as I'm debating taking off this evening
Cheers

If you take the sound out of the equation (and it is a great sound) personally I've not noticed any significant difference in mpg, gains or decrease. It is certainly more eager on the throttle, keener to get on the power especially if you turn the vsa off and give it some out of the corners. I'm very happy with mine it is a head turner and at the end of the day is a bit of fun, if it puts a smile on your face keep it

Its all debateable! if you was to enclose it to stop it from sucking in warm air performance would be better but more air = more fuel.

I have a cold air intake into the standard box (taking away resonator and adding a straighter and easier airflow) the sound isnt as good you get a growl every so often but its more responsive than just the standard box so (i have a k and n panel).

If you decide to keep the 57i you may want to order the k&n cleaner and oiling kit which will help economy and power as they need to be cleaned.

If it's just for the sound then why take it out, I think the only reason some of us might use more fuel is you floor it more. I have just refitted one but used a different cold air method & managed to get the intake temperature down to just 2c above what is was with the full Honda airbox fitted.

I ran the K&N cold feed pipe out of the vents on the bottom of the engine bay so cold air runs straight into the pipe then run this flat along to the back of the bay then upto the filter. Then this feed from ebay plugged straight onto the resonator pipe along to the K&N & very close to it so it can suck the air out.

As I have said this keeps the air temp down to only 2c above air temp with full airbox fitted so I don't see why you would notice anymore fuel usage, I'm not using more but it is revving much better.

It will not be having a detrimental effect on your mpg other than you rag it more to hear it but may reduce throttle response when stuck in traffic without a heat shield or CAI

I wouldnt expect to gain 5 mpg by removing

That was easy

The bit of resonator tube that K&N tell you to take off the one with two bolts under the battery, I put back on & the blue tube fits over this nicely just stick a big cable tie round the neck to make it tight. I had a few stalling prob's when the K&N pipe was where the blue one is but now it's at the back & about 6inch away from the filter it stalls no more. The blue pipe attached to the resonator is close so it can suck air in because it wont blow air out like the K&N one will due to it being open to the rush of air under the car. Like I said the air temp at the MAF shows about 2c over normal temps taken with the full airbox on so it only sucks hot air when stationary but quickly cools once on the go again.

I'm not the best at explaining things so just ask me if I have not made it clear. BTW that kit off ebay is not bad quality at all & comes with 2 brackets, which I didn't use, it's quite ridged.
