DPF - Diesel Particle Filter

Hello,

I have a question.

In France, on the 5-door, there is officialy no DPF on the 2.2 engine, but as I have seen on another french forum, it seems that now, DPF is by default on all 2.2, like other countries.

I'll receive my civic in about 2 weeks, it's already on park in France.

How could I know if I have a DPF or not ??? My seller told me that there is no DPF in France, only on 3-door, 850 € option !! Is it visible?

Thanks for all
Phil

Yeh I'm confused about this aswell. I've got no idea how you would check, and also I don't know whether the UK model has a DPF installed either. It is mentioned in the handbook but I guess that is generic for all models/countries.

I agree that it would be useful if dealers made it a bit clearer - I am confused also.

I'll call Honda France when I'll receive my civic (maybe next week!), with serial number I hope they could confirm me or not that I don't have a DPF filter ...

Are these the filters that require cleaning once a week (or something equally silly) otherwise your car fouls up???? If they are, then the UK ones don't have em'. The Belgians are having a few problems with theirs.

Fingers crossed you won't, but there is a possibility, just thank god you don't live in Switzerland.

Anyone tried sourcing an aftermarket replacement (a sort of "K&N" style Diesel Filter???).

I saw that in belgium, autotuneheinz has made a "tube" replacement for the DPF on the VW 2.0 TDI.
They also have a remap for the ctdi (not on civic but same engine) but there's no dyna graph ...
Just have a look there : autotuneheinz
170hp and + 55NM torque.

Had to post this. Tomorrow I'm going back again for my particle filter. The thing keeps messing up my car. My dealer does the best he can. Atleast that;s what they tell me. But there doesnt seem to be a solution for this problem yet,

In the last four weeks i brought my car to my dealer for 3 times. First I had a partical filter failure. After that, regular service. one week later. particle filter failure. Last night Engine Check alarm. I have a feeling it's about the partical filter system but who knows what it will be this time.

All in all I think I brought my car in 7 or 8 times. All problems were related to the filter.

So if there is a replacement of some sort please let me know cause I'm going crazy here. I calculated the times I have to bring my car in will be around 40 times in the next 3 and a half year.

During the short time I owned an Alfa 159 2.4,the car's dpf self-cleaned itself 3times(white smoke and high fuel consumption).I put this down to the quite high proportion of driving 'around town'.Unless there is a component fault the answer would be to use the engine a little harder.

I think these filters, though best intentioned could be a significant nuisance value for future diesel models.

I surely don't drive highways all of the time, but I ref the engine up to 4 and 5 quite often. I'll ask the dealer tomorrow about the prescribed driving behaviour of the honda civic though. Maybe I don't drive it right . No pun indented. Last engine failure happened after 30 minutes of doing 140 km/h at the freeway.

Gonna write a letter the Honda Netherlands this week. I should be bothering people who desereves it. Maybe they'll throw me a s2000 for the weekends to even me out. That'll shut me up for the next year lol.

Certainly sounds like its the car thats got problems from the description of your driving style.I know from experience patience wears thin with a car when the same fault keeps occuring

For sure these things should not happen. Can you reject/demand a replacement? Hope Honda finally get it sorted out for you. Please Keep in touch with your outcome
