Well, I have just ordered the 8 paddle clutch kit and flywheel. I had the standard clutch replaced by Honda at 17000 miles, the car has now done 42000 and that one is stuffed also.I have had a good chat with Linda at CG and I am having it fitted by them on November 12th... Watch this space!!

I'm having an 8 paddle fitted next Monday the 5th, then another remap after with the extra torque hopefully it will be ok, at the mo I had it limited to 300 to make the standard clutch last a bit!

So do we reckon that these competition clutches and the flywheel are now good for 100000+ miles, or is there no gaurantee that premature failure will start to occur 20-30k down the road? All seems likes early days to me.

Just about to pull the trigger on a 2010 cdti and now I'm not so sure.

If you're not planning to remap it you won't need a paddle clutch.

I don't?
Hondas OEM clutch suffers from premature failure (from what I read here). It would be nice to know that there is A clutch out there that will not do so (map or remap). Hence why I asked the question

The oem clutches did suffer premature failure. However, the latest incarnation (ending in 325) seems to be holding ok, assuming it's not remapped.

Your 2010 may well have the 325 clutch fitted already, and my 2008 (which definitely won't have the 325 clutch) is still on the original clutch at 60k miles.

There are alternatives such as kevlar clutches that will handle the standard power without needing a paddle clutch. I understand why you asked the question but a paddle is only needed when remapping for more torque than the OEM map.

Even if you don't have the 325 clutch and yours does fail, it's not massively expensive.

IIRC CG charge Ł250 to fit their paddle clutch and DMF, didn't think that was too bad. If you get it fitted somewhere other than Honda you'll save your wallet some pain!
