Thanks for the replies Syx

After a bit more digging it would appear that the jury is still out on the 325 as there hasnt been enough miles done with them yet to know for sure.

I'm gonna hold off untill I do a bit more reading up. Very useful forum

Cheers

The jury is out on all of this mate.

I spoke to a couple guys (in person) the other day who have owned cars with paddle clutches and there answer was definite - absolutely no way if your car is a regular daily driver. And if your wife ever wants to drive it then no no no!

I believe this new 8 paddle will by definition be less harsh, but it's still a Paddle clutch and by nature is either on or off like a light switch.

Also no matter how many get it fitted in the near future there is still the question of reliability and IMO there will be for the next year or two.

These items from cg motorsports are developed in-house and as far as I'm aware are not placed in a car and destruction tested. They are designed by clever people at cg (I think) but in the end ultimately it is us the consumers who are paying £1000 to be test mules.

.......deep breath......

I have decided that the paddle clutch option is 100% not for me, so it's either another new standard one (and no remap) or change car completely to something else.

And let's not forget that most owners who have paddle clutches have them on petrol cars - quite different to diesels in terms of torque delivery.

Glad you've finally reached a decision tbh mate as I know you've been questioning for a while!

For me the deciding factor will be the SMF; no point getting a paddle fitted if it will just destroy the DMF... CG are testing a SMF and the results of that will see where the car goes in terms of power. If I put the Celtic Stage 1 map on I get clutch slip so I know without a clutch the remap is not going to be possible.

You can ride the cg paddle clutch you just need some revs to do it. Its not as harsh as some people make it out to be but its the price you pay for the torques most uprated clutches are harsher by definition i stalled hagans car twice the other day....

A while back now, Elite did Rolling Road development work on my car. CC's 6 paddle clutch was fitted and take up was greatly improved with contouring the power curve at low RPM.
I tend to feed in the power from around 1500rpm, and the take off is fine, although not as good as the standard unit. Mind you even the Kevlar clutch I previously had couldn't cope with the lower tuned output I had at the time.
Am looking forward to the reports on the 8 paddle unit as this could be ideal for slightly lower output mapping.

I would imagine it will judder, its a paddle clutch after all, but at least there's no DMF to go pop. The question is are those springs up to the job?
