Try of Cg clutch

Wonder if someone can let me see how bad this judder is on the cg clutch, I have a custom remap 6 months ago and had it limited to make the clutch last as long as possible but now is starting to slip after 5000 miles. Just wanting to see how bad it is for myself!? Or other options I have! Thanks

Hi thanks, just a question will I need a dmf with it I've got 58000 miles on the car or will I be ok just with the clutch?.. Is the cost still £810 with dmf? Thanks

No problem, you may not need the flywheel but it will have done the same miles as the clutch. The labour is a lot of the cost and it doesn't make good economy to take a broken clutch out now at a labour cost of £200-250 to pay someone again to do the flywheel 3 months later when the whole job should be the same cost. I hope this makes sense.

The cost is
£380 for the flywheel, £345 -399 depending on the number of paddles for the clutch.

Ok,so cost around £900-950?... Think it's on it's way out tho, it will slip then won't for a few days or even weeks then starts again!

I'm curious about this too, but don't know anyone anywhere close with one fitted to give me a quick try before committing.

For me it's too much of a gamble, big risk of making the car unenjoyable to drive around real world roads and a big hit in the pocket too especially if it doesnt work out and you want it removed and replaced with a standard item again.

Can I just say a welcome to Andy from CG. I know its a bit late but hey. It is good to have someone from the company active on the site so we can get information and updates. I have kept eyes on most of the threads with tweeking the 2.2 drev as I might end up changing my IMA next year and as my mileage could be hugley incresing was thinking about maybe getting a drev, Would deff be getting tweeked with it as now my Teg has been fully done as my toy for about 2 years now missing the tweeky side of things. Requested a 2.2 once as a courstey car when IMA was in for service as had read so many good things about the engine but never driven one. I was really impressed by it. It was always a concern to me tho that once you started to tweek things that certain parts of the transmission could not cope. It would be good to maybe start getting some flywheel upgrades to go with the clutches. I wounder if Honda did any parts upgrading for the Accord Type S? Still good to hear things might be coming out.
Keep up the R&D CG.

Or, when you eventually try to sell the car, having to say "no, it's not faulty, it's a performance clutch, honest!" to potential buyers.

But, to be a little more positive, it's good to see that CG are continuing to develop performance clutch systems for the i-CTDi. One day, when hopefully the judder/on-off issues have improved, then I will (at last) get my slippy clutch dealt with... then get myself a decent remap!!!

Hello

I went for the CG clutch and now it is all bedded in (600miles) i am finding it difficult to go from second to third on change down the gear stick is quite stiff to get in gear.

And also the clutch bite point is right near the top is this normal set up when using a paddle clutch.
Before it was installed the bite was just over half way.

Could it be down to the fitting.

Yet another report of cg clutch problems.

Having read through hours of past threads on the subject, In my mind at least the cg paddle clutch is 100% not the answer to the problem.

With everyones focus being on the clutch disc I thought that the pressure plate was the actual week point in the car not the clutch disc material. After time the metal on the clutch plate gets weaker and weaker. I looked into finding just a clutch plate but to no luck.

The juddering really isn't that bad. You learn how not to make it judder and when u get it wrong just put the right foot down that bit more. I find that if you drive the car like its a petrol it doesn't judder.

Give it a few more revs when picking away than you would with a standard diesel and you wont get the judder. Having a clutch that can handle the remap makes a judder now and then all worth while.
