TSS Air Intake System for FN2

Hi everyone!

Thought I could share my thoughts on this intake as I see it, it is very rare outside of Germany. Maybe someone on the forum has it, but I could not find it when reading through many of the Inake threads.

I was not into gaining one or to ponies going into this mod, more unleash the VTEC noise and possibly stay out of power loss.

I almost bought a HKS RSK but I'm also a guy that likes to try out new things and make my own opinion before always following the stream so I decided to take another look.

I have relatives in Vienna (Austria) known to tuning for years. My cousin told me about one company his buddies where known to and many other German people liked when dealing with Honda tuning.

TSS Tuning - Der Spezialist fr Honda-Tuning

This is the site of the tuning company TSS.

They have a very good reputation locally, I'm not going to either say one or another until I've tried their product out.

I did the order last thursday and took until yesterday to arrive.
Now I'm just looking at it until I finnish work at 17.00.

If its rubbish I'll throw it out the window and get the CPL and go zigzag through the water/snow here in cold/rainy Swe.

Stay tuned for my thoughts on this kit.

I have just managed to open the well sealed package. So far, the impression of the quality is very good. The filter has a special fin inside that makes the air flow better into the pipe. I waited until today to mount it since I do not have a garage, but my brother does so I'm off for some coffe and modding around 17.00.

I will take pictures of the parts and record the sound before and after installment. Will do some pulls from 2nd (its raining so no standstill), not sientifical but still if someone would like that.

By the way the manual...

Yes they did come, 2 of them. I ordered it from TSS Tuning website. Not missing anything. They also shipped me a catalogue for their site, theres a lot of goodies so If this goes well I'll be ordering some more from them.

I'll take some pics of the brackets and where they fit.

First off. I'm sorry for taking so much time to write up the review. Was really busy this weekend.

I will post pictures and videos below.

So my thoughts?...

Excellent kit! Right from the start I felt the parts were of high quality. The best way to describe the sound now is just, wow! .. I couldn't imagine it would transform in such way.

It now has an deep sounding, burbling noise that made the car feel more raw. To be honest, driving a Honda with VTEC this sound is just a MUST to experience. It IS one of the reasons to love the car and just enjoy driving it. I've amazed two of my friends already on how the sound transformed.

To maximize cold Air Feed Im going to add the piping listed on the picture below, TSS Tuning offers a load of these pipes ready to fit.

But if your sitting around and thinking if you should or not get a SRI or CAI, do it. I for one am amazed. Made me spend two tanks of gas this weekend only to hear the VTEC ..well I have about 15 l left now..

Installing was really easy and I'm no mechanic, the manual sucked donkey b*** so It was just to figure out what parts to take off. I still have a metal piping that I'm gonna change to blue. It's the one to the left of the metal pipe.

I experience no heatsoak at all, don't know if its due to me resetting the ECU before trying it out or not. It just works smooth as hell. I went nuts around corners and straight lines, only to stand still and just listen to the idle. Then I took of (knowing the heat had build up in the engine) and still no hesitation.

Feel free to ask anything and also give advice on what mods I should do from now.

All of the parts..

The bracket that holds the kit in place, comes in two pieces so that you can bend one for your liking and obtain perfect fit.

The air filter

The air filter has a fin inside that guides the air into the piping.

The piping, the part on the top is fitted on it, so it comes separately as two parts. In my favor so that I can change the filter if I would like to (Maybe putting a K&N on).

The kit in place

NOT MY PIC. The piping that I'm going to connect.

And now some before and after comparisons on the sound.

Before with K&N panel filter

and after with the TSS air intake

The sound in real life is WAY more clearer, trust me. I've tested the car for about 1 hour before installing it. And then 1 hour after, it just SCREAMS and it's like the Sony Xperia S can't really capture it..

Enjoy!

The intake is just another SRI, but the built in velocity stack and flow straightener on the filter are nice touches!

Looks like a nice bit of kit, a real alternative to the HKS RSK, much cheaper too.

That looks like a reusable filter, which is a much better idea than the expensive filter for the HKS RSK that needs replacing a lot!

Yes probably it is. TSS tuning as I stated above, are very well respected locally in Germany and also in Austria, so from that POV my review was really to diss it or bring true critics why not too from the problems I've read on this community followed by an SRI.. (some giving engine lights popping up, some giving hesitation, some experiencing (?) power loss etc..

To be honest if it wasn't this rainy in Sweden I would go with the CPL kit reading trough the positive reviews here, and since it's only 300 something it's really an option. Want some facts? We had about 5 sun-proof days here this summer contrary to the usual around 25. The rest was rainy and unstable. Rain would be my enemy but I am so far VERY happy with this kit and planning to keeping it.

I'm not shooting at the HKS kit, I really think it's bonkers and happy for those that enjoy it. I have a friend in Sweden owning it and he's really praising it!

Reason as I bought this is to give honest opinion about quality, bang for the buck and experience. So far nothing negative at all to report, will not say it's better than another kit since I have not tried them except for a panel filter. I let you judge by the videos.

Thank you all by the way!

The direct link to the ebay store they also use.

TSS Air Intake System Honda Civic Type R FN2 201PS mit TÜV-Teilegutachten ! | eBay

I think it will disappear when you buy it until they repost a new one for sale. I think the TUV thing is through ebay only?.. If someone knows what that might be please help
