Cheers Derek, I was being sarcastic about the cooling treatment, not aimed towards your post but the info you provided in reply is much appreciated

Ive ordered some BG44K for my 1.8 and wifes TFSI so will see how it goes and report back on the main thread.

The 'MOHA' stuff is very good as well - it's unbelievable how much sludge \ crud appears in the old oil filter ...

BG44K uses polyether amine, which is very effective at cleaning the engine and does not cause damage. It quite an expensive chemical incomparison to others, but it works exceptionally well.

all the ones in australia just list 99% hydrocarbon as the main ingredient.

Polyether amine is a aliphatic hydrocarbon-substituted amine. The list of ingredients is normally disquised or hidden completely, even on the MSDS they get around it because it is proprietary.

It is their way of getting around the regulation which states they need to put the amount of each ingredient on the tin. Hydrocarbon is basically anything with hydrogen and carbon bonded which includes polyetheramine and then summed the total of all these chemicals which comes to 99%. Then all they need to do is print 99% hydrocarbons on the tin to comply with the regulation and not give away their formula.

They do get around it on the MSDS. The important part is they list the effects of the item. I have seen "trade secret" listed as an chemical on MSDSs.

Edit: Just looked at the BG44K MSDS, they have put all the ingredients into identification codes so you can't work out the formula. They have also specified a range of % to stop people guessing how much of each of chemicals are used.

All I know, is that BG44K works

First time I used it, it was two cans / tanks, back-to-back

It made the engine - smoother, quieter, more responsive

Now I use it about three times a year, and the engine is better than new

But why not try the Archoil Derek?

I emailed power enchancer and he says they're both equally as good. You get more Archoil in a bottle aswell

Hi, it doesn't matter how much fuel is in the tank providing you fill up on top afterwards. Just use the tank of fuel with the cleaner - no need to dilute further.

BG44K and AR6400 are both very good cleaners and you won't go wrong with either.

As I'm in Norway, I order "in bulk" (saves on postage) - still have a few cans of BG44K left

You can get BG44K in a bottle too.

Finding a reseller is the issue.

Like the idea of a bottle so i can put in half now for a half a tank and rest later and i know no crap went in.

I wanted to get some this week but can't had to fix my civic.

BG244 has a diesel fuel pump lubricant I believe. As pointed out it is not suitable for the petrol. BG44K is fine for both.
