Clutch now replaced but stiff gearstick & new biting point

Just had the clutch replaced (civic 2.2 cdti s type). Now the gear stick is very stiff especially 1st gear! Is this normal while it "bedds itself in"? Also the biting point has changed quite a bit ...it now bites very soon after i lift pedal from fully compressed.... should i be frettin or is this normal?

Clutch is still dragging when it is fully pressed down , that's why its hard to get into 1st gear - take it back and make them adjust it properly. This can happen if there is air in the hydraulic system, when you press the pedal you are compressing the air and not the clutch diaphragm springs, so clutch is not releasing properly.

I had same problem, had to take it back 3 times before they checked everything. In the end they changed it for another new clutch and was fine. Ended up with a new DMF too, it wasn't changed in first place as was apparently ok, but when they check it on the third time taking the car in, it was broken.

Edit: - For reference my replacment clutch was the honda 325, supplied and fitted by the Honda dealership

Reports like this make it impossible for the likes of me to drive the 8 hour round trip to cg.

Just adjust it on the pedal box before you wreck it.

I must now say that after a few short trips today the gear stick seems to go into gears a bit smoother now, biting point is stil low though. Rang Cg and they were very helpful saying i can bring it back and they will sort it if they can do anything....its going on a long run down to heathrow this weekend so will see how it is after that.

Thanks Andy and the team at Cg Motorsport, cant fault them ...yes the gear shifter seemed tight at first but seems fine now, biting point is lower then before but easy to get used to so no need to bring it back to be adjusted.

After my initial 500 miles i was having selection troubles especially when cold. Cg recommended a spirited drive which i done for about two days basically showing no respect for the clutch and all is well and has been ever since
