Diesel Cam Belt?

Hi all,

Saving for a Type S Diesel, and have a question....

Can somebody tell me if the car has a timing belt or chain? And what is the servicing schedule and costs for this?

Cheers!

Yep,

My current car is an Alfa 156 2.4 JTD, and the cam belt change on that is expensive. It'll be good to get that bill crossed off the list!!

Cheers!

Excellent Engine photos, do you have a similar one for the type R ?

Is that the oil filter in a nice high accessible location on the diesel ?

I don't, sadly.

And yes, the filter is easy to get at!

What an excellent filter design!

However - guessing that that was the only space left or something rather than actually making it easy to service by design.

Great photos! The diesel seems to have gear as well as chain drive One driven off the chain, t'other by a straight-cut gear. Neat.

Pretty sure that the lower picture (one with the red thing on top - dip stick?) is the 1.8 and you can see that the single camshaft is driven by a chain.

On the diesel, I notice there are 2 chains - the other being a wee toatie one which only serves to drive the balance shaft in the sump.

Cute.
