Have really noticed how my driving style has changed thanks to those bl**dy economy lights. Drive more to position on the throttle rather than to revs these days.

Hi Kissifer 1972

The bias of this box is geared towards economy. There are two ways to gain more economy: Firstly you can use the torque of the engine and drive at lower engine speeds (It easily does this in 5th and 6th) and secondly because the new settings only works on full throttle, low and part throttle uses the original settings. However,I normally give it blast on the way to work and it doesn't adversly effect economy (It will still stay in the 40's). I am starting to get overall 45mpg. During my trip to Santa Pod recently I got 48mpg. I think I'll soon be able to get 50mpg on a run. I think I started off with a really tight engine as its only recently started to consistently return mid to high 40's mpg consistently. The engine has completed nearly 18,000 miles.

MPG sounds good...........

My Civ is 12 days old and I haven't seen better than 36mpg.
It's either a tight engine, lead foot or I have a hole in the fuel tank

And those eco lights are like a mind game!!!!!!!

I'm gonna switch mine off when the newness of it all wears off

If it is only 12 days old you will probably still seem some improvement going forward.

Hey,

Your MPG will improve with time and mileage, my TypeS is 8 weeks old today I think with 1500 on the clock and it's hovering around the 43~44mpg mark indicated by the display.
I think this is quite good from what I am reading of other peoples experiences with the 2.2's which do get better with age.

Mpg

nice to see i get of exposure on this site,i run an analogue unit on my civic due to finding i was driving like an idiot with the digital one ,i can confirm that my car has done 22000 miles in the last 15 months since new ,my wife is the main driver and she normally gets between 46-54 mpg (on dash display)on a recent trip on motorway/local roads usimg cruise at legal speeds, the car returned 54.1.on the hp figures i can confirm a buyer with a 150hp astra with an aftermarket air filter had his car on a dyno and had a hp of 197 this was with the digital unit.at the end of the day there is always 2 answers ,no 2 cars are the same ,no 2 tuning units are the same or remaps and not all dyno rigs are the same so we will always have 2 opinions ! it is all about what we are happy with ,but i for one would not want to take my car back to the remap company every time honda re-write the ecu, also with tuning units they are transferable a remap is not! to be honest we both sell in the same market and i know i sell to remap companies and i also recommend them if i cant supply a tuning unit,so i dont slag off remaps.during my time selling units i have found most mechanics to be very ignorant towards tuning units ,i even know a college motor technician lecturer who apologised to me for doubting tuning units ,he apologised only after visiting one of the top uk vw tuning specialists open days
