2.2 CTDI Sport - 4500 miles and ~800ml used
Tried to use the Mototune method for running in, but only used occasional full throttle.

I did exactly the same. and have the same resoult 4700miles and about 800ml of oil used. However after first 600miles I changed all my oil to castrol edge diesel 0W30. But still had to top up after 2000miles as it was showing me low on deep stick. Put 500ml then. Second top up after another 2000miles about 300ml.

2.2
I had to top up at around 2000 miles. It hasn't needed a drop since - currently on 5800 miles

I have now done 1,500 miles and treated the car gently for the first 1000 miles. I must of only brought the car up to 6000 rpm around 4 times during this period, and the car has nt used any oil as of yet.

The dipstick is a bit tricky to read on the Type R's. I always used to check the oil from cold, but apparently you now have to check it after a run on this car!

little to nothing....unlike some modern VW's where I have heard it costs you more in oil between oil changes than it costs for the service as the oil is so expensive.

Just done the first 600 miles in mine. Checked the oil and it is still on the upper mark if not a tiny bit over.

How much oil do you use

My NHB ES i-shift has now done just 1000 miles after a very careful run in as per practice advocated in the Wiki. I find the plastic dip stick not the best to read and I sense that the engine oil level has dropped a little. I am keeping a close eye on it.

The dipstick is an abysmal thing especially with new oil.

I have had my car for 2 months now and have checked the oil weekly, it still does nt need topping up. Just clocked 2200 miles. There is a big difference in performance now that the car has run in. I still have nt red lined it and dont think that I will for a few more miles.
