Mine barely use any oil at all!
But the plastic stick is hard to read.
I would prefered a metal stick!

No oil used in 2500 miles and I think the dipstick is fine.

Its a metal dipstick on the Type R, and it is also very difficult to read.

I can't detect any oil usage yet, but have only done 1700 miles.

For a while I was worried I couldn't read the dipstick, since it soved no oil use.

sco77harris: Your civic use much oil - sounds like its something wrong here. Or do you recall doing anyting unwise during running in?

I have a 1.8 type s and after 7000 hard revving miles have used a thimblefull much to my surprise, and coming up to the 12500 mile service. I have heard someone on here had the same until the service and then started to use much more oil, so I guess its variable

Also about 1.5 liter in first 10.000km, now after some 2.000km, seems to still be the same.

A bit over 4000km (2500 miles).

Oil in middle of range on stick.
Not filled up.

Running-in

It would be interesting to know how the cars that use a lot of oil were treated during the 'running in' period. Is it a case that the cars with a high oil consumption were treated gently for the first 1000 miles or so?

I have no visable oil consumption after just over 4000km and I ran in with the Mototune method.
