Reading dipstick

Okay, I tried really hard to do the responsible thing today and check my oil level but the max/min indicators that I've been used to on other cars wasn't there!

What should I be looking for??

Also, the manual seemed like gobbledigook to me when I tried to work out what was the best oil to use if I need a top up. Is it just me....??!

(Am standing well back to avoid damage to my ear drums with the resounding YES I'm expecting...!)

There is a "hatched" area on the dipstick.

The oil should be within this area.

On a brand new (or newly serviced) car the oil can be a bit hard to see, but as it blackens over time it becomes easier.

You can consult your dealer for exact type and brand of oil if you are unsure.
