Anyone used an Oil Treatment?

Just wondering if anyone uses an oil treatment both flushing and general additive, I used STP I got from halfords.

Given modern oils seem so good , am I wasting my money?

Fights Friction to Help Protect Against Engine Wear by Providing a Thicker Cushion Between Moving Engine Parts"

Anyone else used it? any views?

(wonder why my text is going green?)

Have never used any oil additives, shouldn't be necessary.
But I don't really know anything about it.

I just found this on pistonheads:

Addatives - Don't do it!

They seem to be saying "Don't bother - it's not worth it!" and in one case "They may cause problems"

I for one will not be using them!

thanks for the comments (been away for a bit!) given the views I'll ignore the oil treatment next time.

I used some Wynnes injector cleaner in a Fiat Coupe 20v once, it stuffed the lambda sensor almost instantly. I would never put anything in the fuel ever again. Wynnes did not want to know. Nether did the shop where I bought it.

I used some injector cleaner in my 1.8 Focus.

The only effect it had was to "fix" the dodgy fuel gauge.
The gauge had become erratic and tended to stick at full or empty and read very jerkily in between. The injector cleaner got it working smoothly again and I never had any further trouble with it.

I guess it was the sender in the tank that was a bit gummed up.

I used some of this in my last car and reckoned it worked very well

Extralube ZX1 Friction Eliminator

However there are lots of people who say most oil additives are a waste of money. The best advice I have seen is to spend the money on a high quality engine oil and change it regularly. I am planning to convert to a full synthetic oil (Mobil 1) once my engine is fully run in.

just choose for the best quality of oil and never add anything else.
choose for a good fuel instead. Like V-power.

well changing oil regularly is a waste of money too ! ( if you mean to change for shorter schedules)

This is why I choose for Shell V-power or BP Ultimate. These fuels have the cleaner built in !!
