North/midland convey to Japfest 12.5.12

OK, those of you that are from the north and midlands that are going to Japfest might be interested in my little convey plan;

I'm not going to lie, it'll be a early start ..... and my initial plan is to first meet at Trowell Services (southbound) which is between J26 and J25 of the M1. This will be the main meeting point for those coming from the north and using the M1 and for those in the east midlands.

Then, we'll go along the A42/M42 and meet at a suitable services where the M42 meets the M5 (I will rely on someone local to that area to tell me which one) and this will pick up those coming from the north west (via the M5) and those from the west midlands.

Then, convey onto Japfest!!!!

That's my plan.

We will sort out timing and precise places (or additional meeting places) nearer the time but in the meantime please put you name on the list and please comment if you have any other thoughts or ideas.

Hiya, don't be tempted to go back a little North from the 42 on the 5 to Frankley.
"Frankley, my dear," is a bit grim.

The others further south on the 5 are OK, but nothing as good as Stafford.

It would be pointless to head back north to Frankley anyway. The first services southbound on the M5 after the junction with the M42 are Strensham Services between J7 and J8.
Coincidentally this would be a good meeting point for me

Japfest opens at 9 to the general public but stand cars can (and will) arrive earlier, if we get there later than 8 we might be struggling with the traffic to get in.

Maybe someone who has been before can comment on the best time to get there for stand cars ...... I can work back from that!

Doing a google search I cannot find a postcode for Trowell Services however here is the link on google.

Best I can find for Strensham services is WR8 0BZ. That is the post code for the northbound services not the south. As long as you are on the M5 from junction 7 you shouldn't miss the services.
