Hondata "Reflash" launched

Flashpro Dealer reflash

Perfect for those on a budget. Means you don't even need to purchase a flashpro now.

Only downside is its only currently available in the US but we are trying to get this over here.

It works the same with things like ECUtek on Evo's, Scoobs GTR's etc where the tuner is an Authorised dealer and he buys a block of licences. Each car in gets registered via VIN code with the licence and you can return to the tuner and get it remapped anytime or just plump for a generic map or full custom tune. Good £500 up front saving straight away there.

Awesome, that's what Ive been pretty much waiting for... as I don't really have a use for flash pro as it would require a specialist to map it anyway, so always felt like i was paying for the tools rather than the map itself.

So I simply install mods and then go to a tuner and let them map it.

Flashpro will still be useful if you ever want to switch between tuned and stock maps, and the datalogging might come in use from time to time.

Think I will keep mine.

I think Flashpro will still be the number one option. Ok so you have the intial savings but each time you want a new reflash you need to pay the $350 again on top of the tuning costs.

Wipes out the savings for customers who end up remapping more than once.

Not to mention the loss of datalogging...

Most don't though.

I can see a group of people who are happy to get a manifold and catback+ tune being quids in and this is perfect.

Then the other group who are always doing bits and bobs and retuning etc needing the unit.

It's good to have 2 paths

Of course more options is good

Suppose to save yourself the equivelent of $350 you'll need to ask yourself, "will I ever get a remap again?" if the answer is 100% no then this reflash option is good.

Thing is when I got my first Flashpro custom map in January 2011, my answer to the above question would have also been 100% no, now look... The modding bug bites whether you intend it to or not.

Spoke to CPL Racing, the European distributer for Hondata this morning. I mentioned this and they said there were no plans to bring this service to Europe
