Our old Civic revealed!

Just thought I'd show you a few pictures of our new (old) Civic1.3 Hondamatic. It's a 1983 Y plate and it has covered 52,000 miles.

We have owned it for around six months, and we have had it down our bodyshop tidying it up until today. I think I am right in saying that it was originally sold by us to a lady who has now given up driving. It will now sit in our showroom next to a 2008 Civic EX!

Must admit, I wouldn't mind running around in it myself!!!

Reminds me of the second Honda (car) I had.

The first was a 1979 T reg. Accord 1.6 4 door hondamatic in silver, with black plastic seats. But the second was a (W reg) 3 door 1.6 Accord (again hondamatic), but in the same shade of white, with similar blue seats.

After 3 Fiats in a row before those, I soon became an early convert to Honda's good build and reliability!

They used proper paint in those days too.
Wonder what our ones will look like in 25 years time.

The car has had a full respray since we bought it. It is going to sit in the showroom and perhaps go out to sales events etc etc.

In 25 Years time the price of fuel (if there is any left) will probably be a small fortune and all of our cars will be rust buckets because of all the stone chips we picked up over the other 24 years lol!

They really don't make cars the way they used too. The electrics will have gone in our Civics before they get to 25 years old me thinks............or we will have all got rid of them, they will have become a boy racer car been modded to the hilt, probably written off and end up in a scrappys. Sad but true

Yep, alas you are right.

I have a neighbour with a 1986 Civic Shuttle (C PREFIX) that has done just under 70 thousand miles and looks and sounds like new. He's owned it from new of course and it has never had a single repair other than servicing, tyres and wipers.

Generally speaking, like most good things in life, if you look after them properly they will look after you. This Civic is a prime example. Blimey I'm feeling all nostalgic.

Still as I`m 67 now I`ll worry about it in 25 years time, meanwhile I`m enjoying it while I can

Best have a Ford Capri meet then.
Will any of us manage to get there though, without being towed there.
