I'm Stupid ! and driving a Civic don't help
And ashamed !!!!
Just before going for a 1500 km trip for Christmas (Part of the family is in the south east of France and the other one in the North East, so we travel a lot between 23rd and 28 of december to pay a visit to everyone So After having driven some distance, about 20 km, I heard a strange metallic sound coming from the motor ... like a fuel cap falling down from the motor.... I've asked my wife to park as soon as possible (Safety First) and I checked the motor The guy I had on line help me the best he can by giving me the phone number of of an open garage (whe where Sunday the 23rd December ....) Who told me he can do nothing on a Honda "... Too specific car Sir !!! " He told me to found a "home made replacement plug" because nobody in France could help me So at the next Petrol Station we found a box of "Cachou Lajaunie" (Cachou Lajaunie - WikipĂ©dia ) we dismantle to put on the hole and it fit perfectly !!!. Because all was too oily whe cant use tape to fix it, so we used some rags... and I refuelled the oil before of course So Once in Aix en Provence I've tryed to found one plug iat the local Honda dealer who was officialy closed, but the Accountant where here and helped. Others local dealers (Marseille etc...) did not have the plug, In Metz (next stop as well) So I've asked my own dealer to order one so I can have it when I will be back home. Result : 21 € for the new cap... |

Yes I will...
On the good side I've found some news that Honda have issued a new system config (Dealer info) about the oil level warning... with other stuff as well. |

Messy Engine for sure, but as said the tech at my dealer it wont damage the engine but it will protect it... and Kremmen you're right, the smell was horrible every time we stop!

In case you would have had really fried the engine the most stupid thing to do would have been to call the Honda service in this case
I always put all small parts in one place if I'm doing any service or making minor repairs - it's a good thing because if there are bits scattered all over the place it's easily to overlook one |
