Lock it too long and the seat falls forwards and unlocks itself, lock it too short and it doesn't reach the buckle.
The other written method it to unravel all the seatbelt and whist it it then reeling back, it locks the seat in a rachet mode. I couldn't get this to work.
So it wasn't just me been a bit dense

Thanks for the alternative method, I will try that next time

"you will need a bigger car or van sir" he says,
"not so" says I, "I have magic rear seats". And in it went easily.
Well done Honda for such a clever idea. saved on a £40 delivery charge.

Should have left the parcel shelf at home

Last saturday I had quite the same experience. I bought an LG 42" LCD on friday and went to collect it on saturday. The box was quite big, and I first tried to fold up the rear seats and put it in there standing up. The doors however were 2" to small. "That isn't gonna work" the salesman said. "Oh yes it will" I replied. Then I folded them back down, completely into the floor and took the boot cover away. "Someone has been thinking this through" he said. "That boot is just huge like that. Very different from them Audi's and BMW's. And I've seen some."
Meanwhile the TV is installed, and the kids made their full size playhouse with the box.

2 Doors for a BMW5 Series (X Reg), they don't even fit in the BMW and thats a saloon, but the Civic swallows them whole.

Don't have magic rear seats, but do have a brain, and when asked for a delivery fee after paying £1999 for a TV told them to deliver it for free or forget it. Hence not only saving on boot space, but petrol, time, effort and set up too!

teenage son in front seat
other son in single rear seat

knackered microwave oven in the boot
replacement microwave (still in box)
New (single) oven (also still in box)
15Kg bag of dog food

Have to say that I did a thread on this last year - I had standard roses behind the front passenger seat - the first post is below:

"Magic seats and standard roses
I know that you can get a bike in the back as I have done it - but what about standard roses??

Well, thanks to the height in the back and magic seats, I have just bought back two standard roses from the garden centre - stood upright with no broken branches or soil everywhere!!

What other unusual load have you lot had in your spaceships???"

Since then I have also had a wheelbarrow (garden centre staff were sure it wouldn't go in boot) with seats down, and, at a different time, a rather large compost bin.

So, what else?

The magic seats are great, but it annoys me that the split is arranged so the double seat is behind the driver, and the single behind the passenger. This means if you want to carry something long and wide (e.g. a kitchen worktop), you can't have a passenger with you as you'd need to drop all the seats. In my Focus the split was the other way round, which made trips to Ikea easy, as my assistant could sit behind me. Looks like they couldn't be bothered manufacturing the seats the other way round for our right-hand drive cars.

I took two old 8x6 garden sheds to the local tip, ok it took 3 trips and they were flat but it saved me the cost of hiring a van.
