Magic rear seats
Hi all
first post of the new year. so happy new year to all. Talking of the new year i decided to purchase a new plasma tv, a 42" LG, from my local retailer, imagine the look on the salesmen face as i pull up in my civic to collect. "you will need a bigger car or van sir" he says, "not so" says I, "I have magic rear seats". And in it went easily. Well done Honda for such a clever idea. saved on a £40 delivery charge. whats the biggest thing you have had in the back of yours (mother in laws and Americans don't count) |

I couldn't live without the magic seats - I had a 6" fridge freezer, a bedroom cupboard and a 42" plasma (with full packaging).......obviously not all at once but I reckon I could have had the plasma on top of the cupboard but it wasn't worth risking finding out.

Those Magic Rear Seats are just genious!
They put all the Audi A3's, Golf's, BMW 1 series etc, etc to shame! A great invention. Just like in the cinema you know, StuMcBill...lol |

If you check your rear seats, the seat base should lift up like the 5 door! The Type S and Type R have the same rear seat set up, I could not figure out how to hold them in the up position, In the link below "PJR" (who has a Type S) explained how to use the rear seat belts to hold them in position. Type R - Trick Rear Seats or Magic Rear Seats ??? |

Type S and bought some rather tall plants. They all went behind the front seats once the 1/2 magic rear seats had been strapped up by the seatbelts. It was a bit of a faff, but it worked. |

If I have understood the different posts on here right, there are not such a thing as a locking mecanism for the magic seats in Type R and S, unfortunately. Stupid isn't it. So the only way out is to use the seat belts.. Oh, nearly forgot, please correct me if I'm wrong. Last edited by amronno; 5th January 2008 at 23:17. |

The other written method it to unravel all the seatbelt and whist it it then reeling back, it locks the seat in a rachet mode. I couldn't get this to work. |
