It sounds like owning that Mini was a bit of an ordeal, in the short time you did own it!!

You are very lucky - I have had 10,500 miles of bad luck, not including the first civic, have seen the dealership every month and driven at least 15 courtesy cars

May your good luck continue

Was that the new model Mini as well ? They are supposed to be better than the mark 1 Mini !

I have done 5000 miles now and have only had a couple of problems which I will probably try to sort myself (less hassle than taking to the dealers).

Was that £4000 just the depreciation alone?

I never had a single problem with my Focus, it was one of the first on the road and was an absolute dream of a car, only mistake I made was trading it in after seven years of trouble free driving for the civic, it had only done 40,000 too

BM may well in the majority of cases be a solid build with good residuals but you get nothing for your dosh.

I was looking in a new series 3 the other day and the dash is just a flat slab with 2 large dials, very uninspiring.

I'm now up to 9K miles and have also never been back to the dealers (but I still criticise the i-shift and the suspension).

Yip, I know where your coming from on that one and I totally agree! After my Mini being in about 48 times for work within the first year (and the majority of that in the first 6 months and for a few things at a time) I have to say that I am very impressed with the CTR, but then I bought it because of Honda's reputation and the fact I couldn't face going through all that with another Mini

In four months I've been back to the dealers twice so far, once because of the windscreen wipers making a clicking sound, which they told me it was the relay and was normal. And the second time, to get a broken trim panel replaced in the rear indicator unit, which came this way from the factory. I think that you should always expect a few small issues on brand new cars.
