What in the Fiesta? The Auto Express article says probably a 1.6.

Don't shout but I'm gonna stick up a little bit for the Focus!! I had the previous Focus ST170 & it's been the best handling car I've driven & I've driven a few over the years. Bags of low down torque & revved to it's limit & luvved it!! Stuck to the road like the proverbial. Like illegal hunter says the new 2.5ltr turbo engine is a real hot hatch eater. I don't like the new ST - typical Germanic square boring look but it goes like stink!! I miss mine but maintenance costs meant it had to go after six years of luuuuvvverly drivin!!! Hope the Honda isn't gonna be as expensive!!!

Ford are not the best cars in the world!!!
How do you know how the new Fiesta 'feels'? Are you one of Ford's secret testers?

You may not be a fan of Ford styling, but have you owned one of the newer ones? If you had, you would know that quality wise the Fiesta, Focus and Mondeo are not that far behind Honda (and in many repects, better than the current Civic!) .The Focus is generally accepted as best in class for ride and handling, even the current dated Fiesta handles better than some of it's newer rivals.

For years I mocked Ford and probably derservedly, they really lost their way during the 90's. When they introduced the Focus, that's when they started to raise their game dramatically!

Well I must say - I actually quite like the look of it! I wonder if Ford is thinking about making an ST diesel!

Just to follow up on this - Ford are doing very well! The range they have at the moment is excellent, and with their new range of petrol engines this year they are just going to get better!
My mum has a Y reg Focus with 60,000 miles on the clock - and it is still a joy to drive!

I have to say I think Ford are moving on with their newer stuff. The new mondeo is getting rave reviews.

In all fairness, i havent driven a 'new' ford, just love the civic vtec EX... its like a drug, i'm hooked!

I have a reservation about Ford for some reason, always put a "cheap" label against them which is probably unfair. But like you said "quality wise the Fiesta, Focus and Mondeo are not that far "behind" Honda" - they are still behind!

The cars might be getting better, but a quick glance at the JD Power Survey in 2007 seems to show that Ford still aren't getting something right.
18th in the league of manufactures. The Mondeo, Fiesta and Focus between 58th and 67th in the league.

If the Civic can come 12th, even with all it's know faults, and the attitude of some dealers and HUK, then what is owning a Ford like

JD POWER Survey Honda scores well

Quite a decent looking car, for a Ford. I think it has some similarities with the Civic, but also the Leon....and some of those small Frenchie cars that girls buy.

I agreed with the above comment - i still class ford fiestas under the same label as clio, corsa etc etc... for some reason i think the Civic should be in a different league and it show in the JD Power League...

Still waiting for my civic to arrive... not seen a tangerine coloured one on the road yet! hopefully i will be one of the first...

Woooooooooooah! You cannot put a Ford and a Vauxhall in the same class as a Renault!!! lol

Ford and Vauxhall deserve better than that! Put the Clio down the bottom with the Pugs!
