Mid Feb is when they should have examples ready by. As mentioned above earlier, the Chinese new year means they all have a week off so it will not be ready until mid Feb at the latest.

See above. The key is currently being designed by their engineers. Order for the bulk of the keys will be placed once I receive a working example that I can post pics of for opinions of the interested buyers. The keys would only take a week to manufacture once the mould is made. All going well the bulk of the keys should be on their way here before the end of Feb.

Does your accord key look the same on the outside as the civic key apart from the extra button. If so then this is possible, the circuits plastic housing will be the same, however you will need to drill the extra hole for the third button. If this works out I will let you have an extra key for research purposes to experiment with as long as you are steady with a drill.

I'm sure there could be guys there in UK who might want a key like this for their Accords (they could send a key for mold)

Having got home and adjusted the key with a file so that it actually turned in the ingnition there is a problem.

The transponder module is situated too far away from the ignition switch to disable the immobiliser. If you hold the original key alongside the flip key housing the module is approx 1" further away than it would be with the original key.

I hope that those chinese who are making the ones for XCGUARD have taken this into account and made the transponder module nearer the acual key - if that is atall possible.

Apologies to anyone who has gone to ebay for one - I shall be contacting seller to explain that for UK Honda Civics this item is useless.

Ouch, is it not possible to turn the casing around inside the key, or would that make it even further away?

The New year holiday has now started there, so won't speak to them for a week. I will email them and hopefully they will take this into account and adjust the design.

Hi,

due to the location of the buttons you cannot turn the unit around and the space needed at the flip end for the metal blade I believe will not allow for the unit to be sited nearer the key.

I let the ebay site know and they have given me a full refund . Excellent ebayer !!! They will be investigating this and get back to me. They say that they have shipped to many countries. However my thought is that this flip key could be used for other Honda's not just the Civic so it may just be a Civic issue.

You can see that the Accord key has the transponder fixed into the plastic, the Civic key transponder is fixed onto the board.
An option could be to remove the transponder from the board and fix it inside the key plastic....

Having looked at mine under a magnifying glass there would appear to be connections to each end of the transponder - removing from the board may render it useless. 125€ is a lot to have to pay to get it working again.

If moving the chip 1 cm is a problem then a flip key may not be possible, as the board has to be a little further away to allow for the key to flip.
We may have hit a brick wall.

Just noticed looking at the civic board that it has solder mount points for the boot release switch. Has anyone tried 'pressing' the solder joints together and see if the civic does have a boot release mechanism or not?

Might have a play on mine......

They probably reused the same PCB from a car with this function.

I doubt very much the mechnaism in the car is there.

Sure that's probably what it is, but wouldnt be impossible that a large company 'disables' a function as to not step on the toes of a higher model....

Worth a go... but doubting it does owt.

I also noted that the transponder is connected to the processor.
I am 99% sure that this is to configure the transponder.
Once it is configured it can be removed, since NO power is needed to make the transponder work...

Once I have my Ebay key, I will probably try to remove the transponder if the key does not work

Are these connection points actually connected to anything or are the all connected to ground, I think they are just there to stop it falling of the board as the transponder has a zero power requirement from the remote board.
