still puzzled as the pictures of the accord key show that the transponder is not connected to anything so how is it programmed.

I would have thought that if it is connected there must be a reason like possibly making it more secure somehow ?

Still expensive to just pull off with some pliers in case it does not work. Think I will be sticking with the standard key for now.

IS there no way we could conact someone from honda to help with this ?

A transponder does not need power to opperate, it uses the car transponder induction field to provide is own power (that is why it is so sensitive for distance).
Transponders can be pre-programmed (like accord one) or can be Reprogrammed like Civic.
I also think that 2006 Accords will have the same type like Civic.

Presume as it is not a Honda OEM product they would advise to steer clear and I bet that they would not endorse removing the transponder from the circuit board just to get the flip key working.

If you cut the connection, you can always solder it back on again if it shouldn't work.

Just received my Ebay keys.
It does not look too bad, but could be better.
It does look made for the Accord type key, with separate transponder. There is a cavity for the transponder in the front of the key.
Also the Civic internal does not fit exactly, some plastic from the flip key must be removed

I gues I will have to remove the transponder from the Civic key to make a test, cross our fingers.

it actually looks quite good, keep us posted on how you get on. As someone has said earlier the transponder does not require any connectors or power you should be able to put it in the cavity and the key "should" work.

Now the big question is does the transponder need the main processor of the remote more than once to initially set the code or does it 'roll' every now and again and need the processor again, in any case I suppose you could extend the connections on the transponder and solder to the main board (this is what I would do)

But.... It doesn't make the job easy for the average person and the Bentley type keys.

i dont think there are any connectors, i think the bits on the side of the transponder are simply there to hold it in place. i had a remote start clifford on my previous car this required the transponder to be removed from the key and taped inside the steering column. i had it for 4 years and never had any problems.

The Ebay flip key WORKS.
It will take some skills, you will have to move the transponder out of the original box. The transponder MUST BE WIRED to his original pads. it does NOT work without connection.

So:
1- cut the flip key plastic like in the picture to make the original box perfect fit
2- Check the original transponder position (polarity)
3- Remove the transponder from the original PCB (Use 2 soldering irons, to heat each side, or use a special desoldering tool)
4- Connect 2 small wires to the original transponder pads
5- Solder the wires to the transponder (mind original polarity)
6- Glue the transponder in place as far to the front as possible (cut the flip key transponder cavity )

Hint: put some silicone grease on the flip mechanism.
Pollish the metal key part after cutting.

As someone has said earlier the transponder does not require any connectors or power you should be able to put it in the cavity and the key "should" work.
