I would CERTAINLY take you up on that offer.
I've already got the housing ordered, but would be willing to pay the rest. Looking at doing it myself, and the key cut/housing chopping I'm happy with. But it's the wiring and moving the transponder. I'm of course not accusing that you'd do anything untoward (and would send you the whole key myself) but if people are unsure of doing this, maybe you could offer doing the insides only and people get their own key cut (they'd have to open the key up and send you the insides without the actual key. Do you think this would be an idea to ease some minds? |

Sat down this weekend to do mine, had the key cut Friday and got the soldering iron out Friday night.
Whilst the flip fob was in pieces I went round it with some very fine emery board and took off all the rough edges and polished over the whole fob so it felt smooth. Then I got out the dremel and took out the obstructing bits so the remote fob fitted in nicely. Out came the soldering iron and the transponder came of nice and easy (marking with a pencil which side was which)after the glue was warmed by the iron. Dremel the outer remote case with a 2mm drill bit creating a 2mmx3mm channel for the wires to come through and cut away the rubber inner to match. Soldered two bits of kynar wire about 15mm long to the board and soldered the transponder to it. Put the remote part back together and mount in the fob. then stuck a foam pad in the back and screwed it back together. Polished the key with a fine emery board and a polishing wheel. Tested and working a treat. Thanks to all that have gone before me for the tips. Looks much better |
