Just been to key cutter (Timpson)to investigate the cost.
When I showed him the key. He said, "You can get one from Honda" "No". I said, "I want a blank cutting". "I used to work for Honda. It wont work!!" he said "I'm going to remove the electronics and put it in the new key", I said He looked bemused. "Can you cut the key?" I said "No!" I walked away. So..What next? |

Cutting a key cost between 10 and 20Euro
Just found in the parts list that it is possible to buy the key internals separately, it will cost you 124Euro ex tax. A complete (uncut) key costs 130Euro ex tax. So beware if you want to experiment... |

I'd like to give a big 'thanks' to Gray52. Got my key from ebay, contacted him & sent the key. Got it back within 2 days, had it cut yesterday. All working & one happy bunny.
Cheers mate. A small caution though, getting the key cut is not as straight forward as you might think. I had the same problem as a few others on here but I thnk I got lucky. After the key was cut (not by computer) it didn't work. After about the 6th attempt of shaving extra bits off it worked. This was only thanks to the guy persevering with it. |

these keys need to be cut via a computer controlled cutter. i had problems getting mine cut, then the guy who owns the stall turned up said it had to be cut via his computer set up. it buzzed around my spare, saved the template then put in the correct cutter and sorted. worked fine. this is one reason i cannot get your keys cut, as if it needs abit more trimming off then you would have to send it etc.

i got the flipkey from alx_rob@yahoo.com a few days ago.
first i had some problems finding a shop that could cut the key and after finding one, the key didn't fit because it was not cut deep enough. unfortunately i didn't have time to bring it back and get it done right before good friday after doing some measurements with a sliding rule, i found the problem and solved it with my dremel. thanks to the excellent pictures in this board, i quickly had done the other modifications needed and now i'm proud owner of a working flipkey for my fk3 |

sounds familiar. first they want to send you to honda, then they talk about the immobilizer, and finaly they tell you they don't have the machine.
i've been to five "mister minit", only one had a machine and that one hat a broken cutter. (they should have gotten the new one today but i didn't want to wait five days.) thanks god i found a shop that did the job ....more or less.... |

I think it might be worth us getting a list of places which can/will do them. I don't even know where to start with mine, and I'm ever so slightly scared that they'll mess it up and all the hard work (and money) will be for nothing.
