Mine cost £10 to cut - but works!
It was a bit stiff to get out but it's startening to loosen up a bit (I'm hoping it's the key changing shape and not the ignition barrell)
I got it done in Timpsons in Sale, Cheshire in case anybody is interested.

Mine was OK after I went round it with some fine emery on a dremel. It seemed they do not do a very good jo de-burring the key.
But then Timpsons only charged me £5!

Different key auctions

HONDA SWITCHBLADE REMOTE KEY CONVERSION CASE 2 BUTTON on eBay, also, Honda, Car Parts, Cars, Parts Vehicles (end time 09-May-08 10:25:19 BST)

NEW HONDA 2 BUTTON FLIP-KEY REMOTE CASE on eBay, also, Honda, Car Parts, Cars, Parts Vehicles (end time 07-Apr-08 10:49:50 BST)

Hi there

I have seen the 2 keys on ebay at the moment and was wondering if the cheaper (£11.99 Civinfo) fob has the honda emblem on the back like the more expensive £14.48 fob (which has a picture of the emblem on the back)

Thanks!

Getting my Civic next week!

The cheaper one does indeed have the adhesive logos. They cover the screw holes. The whole thing looks fine when finished.

You will have no joy in Dunfermline getting the key cut. Look at earlier post of mine on this thread, there is an excellent Locksmith in Glenrothes who can do the job for you. If your stuck for one can post the info about him again.

yeah sorry about that! I meant say dunfermline. The job for making the key doesn't look too bad so may think about it after I get the car.

Thanks.

Well I hope the cheaper one is OK as I've just ordered one. Thanks for posting the link.

I think I will take advantage of one of the offers to transfer the chip etc as my old steam driven soldering iron is nearly as old as I am!!

Anyone had one cut in the Rugby area?

The ones I ordered 10 of are the £11.99 version, and have the Honda name in the plastic on one side, and the logo in black/silver on the other side which is self adhesive and covers a screw hole.
I've done the mod, and it looks good to me.
Who is MAKING a flip key for other people?

I have done mine and it works if i hold it next to the old key (without the circuit board)

just need to get it cut.

I found the spring a pain and the quality of the flip is not to good.

It will do until a quality one turns up.

Damm I am so angry. I went to three Timpsons today and none did the key cutting. I also drove all around enfield still no luck.
Then I went to winchmore hill in north london and found a locksmiths that said yes no problem for £17.
I thought thats a lot but went ahead anyway.

The good news is that he cut it.
The bad news is that he messed it up.

Result is one knackered flip key. He did that for free. that was nice of him.

2nd key now on order.

there is a very good shop in coventry that will do it really cheap, he usually beats timpsons prices, its called snobs and he's based inside the empress arcade on the binley road.

In the WIKI you recommend a 12w soldering iron but mine is 25w. Can I use this, or is there a danger of damaging the transponder?

for all my fine work i always use a 12w, and have had no problems. the 25w will have a screw driver type bit in it, and this could end up melting the plastic transponer if you slip with it. this is 2 jobs in one, so you have to heat the transponer and prize it off all at the same time, one end at a time. with the 25w you will be putting alot of heat in one place while you fiddle around trying to prize it off.
