Hello All,

Ive decided to take a punt at the new flip key.

Ive bought the one below from ebay
HONDA SWITCHBLADE REMOTE KEY CONVERSION CASE 2 3 BUTTON on eBay, also, Honda, Car Parts, Cars, Parts Vehicles (end time 23-Jun-08 07:18:24 BST)

reading posts in this section I can see that this blade is shorter than the original, but I feel hopeful that it will work. Purchased the blade just now. Will post results as soon as.

I have been very tempted to plunge and obtain a 'flip key' but put off with the hassle some of the forum members have experienced. I shall wait to see if our friend at Gordons Honda (see above post) can enlighten us further.
I understand Honda are to introduce the 'flip key' or as Honda describes, the jack knife key, across the whole range of Honda cars. When is a different proposition.

Yes, the Accord key would be a good solution if it is possible.

But I must admit I am i little disappointed with the quality of the Accord key. I was test-driving both the 2,0 petrol and the 2,2 diesel yesterday, and I took a good look at the keys. The fold-in mechanism seems very little responsive, and the over-all quality is a little disappointing.

But I would choose the Accord key over the Civic one any day

You can see the inside of the 'H' key here (#772): Who wants a flip key?

..and it looks like you still need to extend the wiring for the transponder. See here: Flip key - Civinfo Wiki

Well, you're in luck because some members (gray52 for instance <I Am Also Offering The Flip Key Mod. Pm Me If You Are Interested.> ) will do the transponder conversion for you. Albeit you will need to post it to him or visit Peterborough for a holiday!

(See details here: Flip Key Cutting Sites ...and here : Who is MAKING a flip key for other people? <this is a closed thread but still viewable>)

Right chaps its official, New Accord flip key WILL fit the civic. Key blank is £40.33 inc VAT and you can get them from ME, or your local dealer. Bear in mind you will need to get the key cut (approx £5-6) and programmed (approx £30).

Can you program it and/or cut it also?

I guess the boot release button doesn't do anything at all?

£75 for a replacement key? Definitely a little on the steep side for me unfortunately.

There is also the danger that you can pay £40 for a key blank and have it ruined by the key cutter

Being a bit of a pessimist here but the Accord key does look quite nice!

....yes, and I have already had a blank ruined! Can the blade be replaced and the current key blade cut off and inserted (on the cheapo versions there is a small locking pin that can be removed to release the blank, I believe).

Do you need to use the existing internals of the civic key? I guess not or there would be no need to program it, £40 seems a little cheap with the internals too, not that I'm complaining

If you do use the Civic key's internals, I have seen the new Accord key and the buttons look different, will the Civic ones line up with the holes.
