My friends spare key is making its way to China, and will be used to make the mould from. Should be receiving the first keys in approximately 3-4 weeks. If they are upto spec then the remainder will be produced and sent. Looking at approximately 6 weeks. Will keep you posted as the process moves along.
It varies dependant on your local key cutting place, mine charges £5 others charge as much as £12.50(see post further up). |

It will be cut using the original key you have so shouldn't be any problem. It will not need coding to the car as we are basically just changing the keys housing and the car will not be any the wiser.

Definitely count me in too - and I'll take 2. I miss my old A4 key - Honda have really missed a trick here, although I'm used to it now having just traded in my S2000. I think andyp has a point - can't we skip the key entirely and just have a big red starter (open) button which activates the open switch?
The Bentley model looks great - can I vote twice?! |

.Keyless entry sounds good and I love my gadgets but I would not like to walk away from the car and HOPE it locks when it should. I prefer pulling on the handle after locking to make sure it has! Just my view. However I would be in support of a smart card that has lock/unlock buttons on it and you slot into the dash somewhere. But thats for Honda to look into for future models, would be too much involved for a DIY mod. |

I used to have a smart card with my Renault, hated it, it used to fall out of my pocket quite easily, if you put it on a key ring it was too bulky, I would put it down and could never find it again, Give me a key anytime, folding or otherwise.

Haha - the Renault smart cards are stupid! My friend once drove her mum to work in her mums car... then went to work herself... if turned out that her mum had the key in her handbag... about 30 miles away by the time they realised... and with the engine off!!!

From previous experience I know that cutting this key is a difficult task. Had 1 cut for my previous car (CRV) and it worked well, then had a 2e cut in the same shop, but it was an other guy that did the job and it did NOT work, he destroyed a original Honda key (125€) !! Tak care to select a good shop. |

![]() My Laguna had the keyless entry system and I found it to be very good -very reliable, always locked when it should, no fumbling for keys etc. Honda could easily do the same, as I'm sure they have similar features on their USDM/JDM high spec models - it's just a question of cost! I'm sure future generations of Civic may have it. If Honda do introduce it, I reckon the new Accord would be one of the first Honda models. |

Put me down for one too mate. Please.
Assuming that the key itself, is of good quality steel, -- removing a broken bit could leave us stranded and well out of pocket. |
