Child Seats in Civic
Hi
My brother told me that it wasn't safe to put a non ISO-Fix child seat in the back of a Civic, he said it was something to do with the Magic seats. I don't know where he got this information from or if it's true or not, I don't have kids myself, but I have sometimes driven my 21 month old niece home, using a baby seat borrowed from her Grandparent's. Will I still be able to do with when I pick up my new Civic 5 door in March? |

I have never heard of that..... I can't see how as the magic seat can only activate if you fold or lift up the seat. I have had a normal car sear that uses the seat belt to fasten in my 5 Dr since July with no problems. |

No problem in my Millie.
Using Britax stuff held on by the seat belt. Haven't lost a grandchild yet! "You know you're getting older, When you have sex with someone half your age, And it's legal!" |

This is nonsense- Honda sell non isofix seats so it couldn't possibly be true.
I have a Mamas & Papas non isofix base and group 0+ car seat. We researched the options before getting this- I certainly wouldn't use it if my wee boy was at risk. When he needs a bigger seat I think I will get an isofix one, just because they are easier to attach and more secure. |

I cant see how the magic seats would be a problem, how are they going to lift up with the weight of the child seat on?

Doesn't make sense to me either, I don't believe it.
The 8th gen civic is a small family hatcback, with very flexible rear seats. |

An iso-fix child seat fittings then slot into the holes and something inside the main seat holds the child seat in place. With a normal child seat, you have to use the seat belt to hold the child seat secure. With a Civic, if you have an iso-fix child seat, it'll need to be belted into place - which is perfectly safe (no defects with the seat belts yet...right guys??? |

Practically all New cars will have a minimum of 2 Iso-Fix mounting points. They are a good way of installing a car seat as it minimises movement. With regards to the Magic Seats. Well, Honda would have stringently tested these in the event of an accident/collision. If they were not able to withstand the size of an adult one them, they wouldn't be in production.
It is perfectly safe to install a non-isofix seat, providing that the seat has been installed properly, the only issue would come from incorrect fitting by the user (not the child!!). |
