Sales Of New Civic
I notice (here in Ireland at any rate) Honda Civic sales seem to have increased significantly since the launch of the new Civic in 2006. The 5 door are very popular, certainly in comparison to the previous model.
Just wondering if its just that they catch your eye more and seem more plentiful than before or if sales are really up everywhere in Europe? |

Hmmm, they have always been a popular choice here in the UK, but I have to say that I have noticed more 'Younger' drivers in the New Civic. Seems all the oldies are getting rid of the Civics for a Jazz.
My Dad's mate who's 66 just bought the CRV again, he said he had a look at the Civic, but its a young person's car. Didn't think he would have said that. He liked it, just thought he would look a bit odd driving one |

Lol! He only bought that cause his 'people carrier' for the grandkids was too light for towing and well he always used to have Honda's so back he went to them. Which is a good choice I say, but I don't think the CR-V is an old persons car.......the winner of that award goes to the Jazz!!!!!!
I think he will look too old in the CR-V, it looks like a car for people who are a bit more active, fitter and younger than him! lol!!! |

In France
Increase figures 2006/2007 +33,4%. 2007 is the new record year for honda sells figures : 15 631 (former record in 1992 : 15 478 ) And yet Honda is in the top 20 (N°19 between Mini and Kia and far below Dacia). The civic is not in the top 20 (N° 20 is Ford C-Max with 23422 cars sold last year) First brands are Renault, Peugeot and Citroen, VW, Ford and Toyota First cars are Clio, 207, Scénic, C4 Picasso, 307... ** EDIT by FWH - fixed the number that had turned into a smiley ** Last edited by FWH; 29th January 2008 at 17:12. Out of interest, does anyone know what the sales have been like of (what once was) the Civic's closest rival, the Auris (aka Corolla)? Just thinking I have not seen a single one on the streets, or maybe its because they look so much like the Corolla they replaced, I just haven't noticed...
My guess is everyone bought Civic's instead. |

I've convinced a guy at my work that the Civic is the car he wants. I just had to show him the interior and he was sold! He took one look at the Corolla and Auris and said they looked too plain! At least he didn't say the Civic looks like it has been designed by someone who loves cheese triangles! (like my Mum thinks) |

I think Toyota made a real blunder getting rid of the Corolla name (what with it being the best selling car in the world and all). I've owned several Corolla's over the years and they've always been pretty good (especially the old GTi). Until now, the Corolla and the Civic always seemed pretty evenly matched in sales terms - in the UK at least. Seems Toyota really have been caught out by Honda this time with the 'all new' Auris (read Corolla, with a slightly different interior) looking pretty old-hat next to the quite radical Civic.
I'm sure I saw an ad the other day that had Toyota offering the Auris with 0% APR. Toyota never do that! |
