Unhappy Got hit by a builder in a hurry

I left my house this morning and less than 30 seconds later a guy cuts the corner when turning right as I was about to turn left and his front offside corner collides with my front offside corner.

He admitted fault and I have a witness

Just started the insurance claim against him, lets hope he keeps his word!

Car is driveable just lots of white paint off his van and a scuffed front bumper, nice start to the weekend!

I'll post a photo later.

I feel for you, really I do. near my house there is a 90 degree turn and a high level wall and the amount of people who still cut the corner is amazing. The number of accidents that it causes is huge. Infact I don't think a month goes by without an accident, actually!

Hope everything goes well for you.

Here's the damage, its not dramatic. Photo taken about 5 minutes later, as I moved my car back onto my driveway and got my camera out.

It's only light panel damage at the top and bottom of the bumper and also the plastic wheel arch trim pushed out. Although the moulding on the bumper where it sticks out is quite badly gouged.

I'm just annoyed that now I have the hassle of getting it sorted while he sits back and does nothing as it was probably a company van. Can you claim for out of pocket expenses, phone calls, cost of getting the car to the garage, time taken off work to sort. etc etc?

I'm finding this more and more on roundabouts where you are on the inside turning right and the driver to the left of you is going straight on. Instead of driving around the roundabout alot more people seem to cut straight across in to your (unmarked) lane. Forcing you to brake.

Its much worse if you don't have to stop at the roundabout and the driver to your left is just pulling away as you get to the white line, they seem not to look in their right hand mirror and just veer over to the left.

I've just done some digging on the guy who hit me. The phone number he gave me of his insurance company was a breakdown company, the name of the insurance company he gave me was actually a broker, so I began to doubt he was insured

So I called my insurer (Direct Line) and told them all this to update their records as I the information I was given and then gave them was wrong. Anyway they did a search via his registration and he is insured - phew!

Hopefully that'll get noted down, as he should have known his details (got mine in the glovebox, (photocopies of course)). Had a guy hit my dads range rover once while out driving, then said he wasn't insured, so I took his wallet with credit cards as collateral for a while, until he'd contacted his job to ask.......... also called the police on the spot, no insurance is no insurance in my books.

Also, I'm quite amazed, the fog light survived!!!!!!!

i to find this alot, but when im in the works van i stand my ground or lane and they soon realise that they need to get back in their lane.

if thats all the damage it may have been worth him paying for it with no insurance, because until its settled it will be as much your fault as his.

a smart repair on that bit would not have been to expensive.

Yes, people do seem not to bother what lane they are in on roundabouts now, so inconsiderate, and something that gets my goat.
