Not the best weekend
I'm a bit sad this weekend, after buying my Civic back in March and finding out about having faulty shocks I had them replaced. The only time I noticed them knocking was when I reversed off the drive and over the pavement. I haven't had any problems with them doing it since having them replaced until this weekend when it started again on Saturday morning
I cleaned it today, and was happy at how clean the car and the alloys looked after not getting round to cleaning it for about a month. Dad goes outside, looks at the car comes in and asks if I noticed the spots all over the bonnet, which I hadn't. I go to have a look and it looks like its actually under the laquer, it doesn't feel like there is anything different about it and it doesn't come off by rubbing it. The spots have a bronzy/rusty look about them and are about 1-2mm across, there are maybe 20 of these little spots on the bonnet, so I look the rest of the car over and its on the roof quite a lot and slightly on the doors. I paid for the supaguard so my paint looks decent and now I notice this, i'm guessing this is likely to come under the paint warranty? My list of things to go to Honda and ask them to sort out is growing: I have a rattling passenger seat driving me mad, Funny looking spots on the paint And what could possibly be faulty shocks again, but I have to confirm it. Not the best weekend really |

Go to the dealer whilst the car is clean, and show the sales man, and whoever he see's fit to show it to.
This sounds like it is a warranty claim, soley because it is under the paint itself. Allow the dealer to do some checks. They may want to buff it to see if it helps, and this will also indicate that the blemishes are under the paint. I would have brought up an accident, but it is plain from the extent of the marking that it is not the cause. I think that the dealer should be able to sort it out for you via honda uk. All I will say is that it may take a little time Hope it gets sorted for you |

A follow up to this, I took the car in for them to check today.
The knocking which could be faulty shocks wouldn't do it for the mechanic, and he told me they are the new ones and I shouldnt be having problems, and if it persists then to get back to them so they can take another look. The mechanic thinks that the passenger seat rattling is down to the base of the seat and could be the arm that you use to slide the seat backwards and forwards. A replacement has been ordered and its being fitted next Friday. And he said he had never came across the paint problem before so got someone who knows more about the paint, and he seems to think that it may be between the supagard and the paint/laquer, so the supagard is being removed with a polish next friday to see if that is the problem. They will reapply it if it is. Is it unreasunable to ask for a new after care pack as I have used half the original one which is now being removed?? |

Basically it protects the paint, for a cost...about £200 (I got it cheaper) and prevents the need for waxing for 3 years and makes it easier to clean.
I notice it the most on the alloys, so easy to clean! (unless there is another reason for this?) |

they usually sell it to you, like they do GAP insurance etc. If you want it, you will probably now have to ask as you have already placed your order, and you will have to pay roughly £200 ontop what you are already paying. I think its £195 but am not certain.
another plus for it is, they have there own guarantee, on the interior and exterior. for example, if you spill somthing on the carpet, and it stains, they will try there hardest to clean it, if they fail they replace the carpet.....at least thats what Honda told me |

Bardley,
Dead pleased that the car is better again, and thank god you had the common sense to give the dealer the chance to rectify the problem, instead of stewing over it. Keep an eye on the paint though, just in case Martin |
