Here there is a work around - fit a row of extra driving lights to the bull bar and call it a bracket...

Personally never thought bull-bars (Or Roo bars) made much difference, get hit by 2 tonne lump of steel moving 40mph with or without a 4 pound bit of metal welded to the front, it's gonna hurt either way.

The problem with bull bars is that they apply the force to a small area of the body and thay do not deform. This makes the accelerative forces applied to the unfortunate pedestrian much higher.

Ahhhh, simple way round that, don't get hit by them . Some people do need bars though for safety.

By the name alone you can tell what and why they WERE useful, Bull or 'Roo bars are for deflecting large animals away from the from of a vehicle and defending the vehicle, NOT the animal that was struck.

Yes, getting stuck by a car/4x4/whatever, isn't going to be a pretty event but at low impact speeds, the damage done by steel tubing is massively greater than modern day, impact absorbing bumpers/front ends.

Plus, they look as naff as heck anyway lol

I'm not so sure they help much if you hit a moose, having 2m shoulder height.

I need a bar, but not sure if it has anything to do with safety.

At 40mph, having bull bars or not probably isn't going to make much difference to the pedestrian

At 10mph though, a ped hit by a 4x4 (on the grounds they're normally the ones with bars fitted)...
no bars = ped will probably bounce off the bonnet and walk away
bars = ped probably won't even be walking anywhere ever again especially if it's a kid who's head is bull bar level...

That's sure but the 4x4 will be scratch free... Isn't that the owner is looking for ? He has not to pay attention at other's safety ?
