No Acknowledgement

On my drive home to Chez Krem yesterday evening, as I was approaching a Honda dealership, I noticed that no one was making any attempt to let out the Civic that was patiently waiting.

I slowed and flashed and.................

not even a wave or a thank you, and, it was the first 08 car I have seen so far which put my 07 in the shade

Didn't have a sticker though so the score is 1 - 1

I hate people who don't say thank you when you let them in. If I had my way I would have a little gun on my car that would fire a little shot at their tyres if they didn't say thank you.

I'm a nice man really

This happened to me a few weeks back with not just one civic but TWO and neither of them acknowledged the fact that I deliberately left them both room to move over into my lane!

Brand spanking new car that they haven't driven before, very nervous £17k plus of new toy - do you think they were that worried about anyone letting them out?? I do however agree that it is pretty bad mannered....

I've given up on letting people in anymore, as most of the time they don't notice my flashing lights, and vigorous arm-waving to signal them to join the road....

Either that or they just think I'm some kind of loon they'd rather drive behind.

I know what you mean - some people pay so little attention they dont see you sigalling to them at all. I just give up and drive on when they do that.
Even when they do notice eventually, there's rarely a thankyou.

Kremmen - If it had been me you were letting out I'd have wound down the window and cheered - sight of seeing another Civic when (presumably) taking delivery on my new one and all....but then thats just me!

I keep seeing the same silver Space Ship parked in Asda's car park.

Sometimes I'm leaving and he/she's coming in or visa versa.

I always flash, probably six or seven times to date, but so far, no response!

......even put a card under one of the wipers as well, while it was stationary!

......maybe I just look like a dirty old man I suppose!

Al dente you might say!"

Reality check time, you are driving a Honda Civic there are 1000s on the road now and if every car driver waved and flashed every other driver driving the same vehicle as theirs no one would be concentrating !!!

Perhaps the driver of the other civic ignores you because they dont know you and really couldnt give a damn about the car situation.

Probably true - but we can always wish!

Everyone I know who drives a Lotus (so 3 people then!) say that pretty much every lotus they past always gets wave or a flash - even across carraigeways on the motorway...its about time it went mainstream!

Bikers are the same, I was getting acknowledged while out riding.

I just find it strange that someone would want to flash a stranger repeatedly when they get no response and its quite obvious they are not interested.

Yea, but getting back to the original comment of Kremmen letting out a civic, surely it would have been expected for there to have been some kind of acknowledgement or thanks. In my opinion simple good manners.

Although, TC, I do take your point about flashing the same cars as your own if you don't know the person in the car - I too find that a little strange and am not in the habit of doing it.

Over here there aren't that many Civic's, a few but not seemingly like the UK, we don't flash or anything we just size each others cars up. It's like we are trying to check what the other person has that we haven't. The thing is that I am one of few, like only one or two who have the executive model, with the glass roof and people really look at me!! Quite funny!

Totally agree whether they were in a civic or not it doesnt take much to show some manners nothing winds me up more giving way to a whole string of cars and they all sail past without a gesture of acknowledgement

Tc is just jealous that no one will flash her as she no longer drives a civic and the focus is just to common for it to happen.
