Why Oh Why Cant I Get Leather Seats ?

I am somewhat surpised that for some strange reason Honda do not offer the option of having leather seats in a civic Type S but they do in a civic 5 door.

I understand they are different seats but is it really that hard to offer.

I want to spec up a Type S the same as a top spec 5 door but i cant !

Come on Honda sort it out !!!

Is it just me or has this been raised before ?

Anyone know if this is coming soon as dealers professional industry answer was " I have no idea ".!!!!!!!!!!

I wanted the same but in the end had to opt for a 5 door.

The Dealer wouldn't even entertain the idea.

i agree leather should definitely be an option on all Hondas.
why dont you have a look at aftermarket. probably cost around £800 for a professional job i think.

I don't know quite who they employ in the Honda marketing team, but this is one of (many) incomprehensible choices they made

so far we have (and we are talking about offering these as options) - or more to the point can't have...

1) leather seats on 5dr Sport
2) leather on the EX - unless you have the glass roof too
3) glass roof on any model (and if you spec it on the only one you can - the EX - you have to have leather too)
4) a rear centre armrest on the Type S
5) proper magic rear seats on S and R
6) rear centre belt on R (which uses same rear seats as S, which does have a centre belt)
7) HIDs on S or R
8 ) heated seats unless you have leather (see above)

What makes these choices (or lack of) even more bizzare is that on other non-UK spec, you can spec some of these as options...

must be hard working in that department...

It does seem strange why they wont offer these options.

I can maybe understand why you cant spec a base model up to the Type S GT or the EX but surely if your looking at the top end why are these not options.

Very frustrating when you know they already make them !!!!

Even more frustrating is finding out i can have after market leather but this is not an option as its a lease car im ordering and not my own.

I only hope and pray the drive of the car along with the gadgets make me forget my one wish.

We will see i suppose

See here:

Leather Interior Retro-fit

...and see photos here:

Bespoke Leather Club

Even better than the Honda fitted seats (where available).

Don't forget the really big one . . . If you specify a £450 towbar you can't have any other pack, instead each item is added separately from the £15 first aid box to the £1900 entertainment system. This increases the price of a standard 2.2 EX from £18,930 to £31,160. A 65% increase just for the options!!! What on earth is Honda up to?

(This helpful information comes from Auto Express 12-18 March)

The only restrictions on adding options is obviously the image pack (you cant add a lowered rear spoiler with a towbar) if you wanted the other skirts these would need to be bought separately.

The entertainment pack can be added but only if you dont have the panoramic roof (the dvd player is fitted to the ceiling).

The first aid box is a separate option only.

Studio Pack and Connect Pack are available too.

Parking sensors are available with a detachable towbar (otherwise they'd keep going off)

I haven't seen the article yet as none of my local shops stock Auto Express so can't/won/t comment any further but as for increasing the car price by 65% - it just doesnt sound right.

Far from 'helpful' information at all.

I think £31,160 is surely a typo from £21,160 ?

The same problem with the heated seats. You can have them in 5 door version but not in the Type S....

Not by Electrics maths it isnt. £18,930 x 65% - £12,304.50 = £31,234.50 so there or there abouts. Unless Auto Express have done it wrong?

they might have typo'd the 31,234 and then worked out that was 65%

but I agree - sounds massively over the top!

So.
I've just been on the Honda site

started off with a 2.2 EX at £18,930, and ticked every single option box I could find
And I do mean every single one - including the stupid stuff it lets you do like having both a fixed and detachable tow bar, and specing both the City pack and sperately all the bits which make up the City Pack LOL
TOTAL cost £36,250

So then I just went for ALL the stuff that doesn't duplicate itself (ie only one towbar )
I went for the expensive way (no packs, but order all the bits from the pack)
and it does indeed come to £31,011!

but all that said, adding the option of a tow bar doesn't mean you can't spec the packs such as the concert pack.
But it will make fitting the image pack more difficult

I wish Honda had the money gabbing brains of BMW where its option city on the new Mini . This is why my 07 Cooper S cost £22k , leather was a £1200 option
