Recall Details for VW - Jetta and Golf Estate with diesel engine Fires in Jetta's - no problem. As for Civics - had the tee shirt. I couldn't stand the heat so I got out the kitchen into Volkswagen tranquility. Not sure that VW agree with you |

Hang on. Lets get this in proportion.
Its only ten thousand or so cars over a period of a year. Hmmm.. quite a BIG proportion then And we are not talking about rolling away, its just fire... FIRE !! ??? |

Move posts
Hi to any moderator, I know I am as guilty as anyone else, but can some of these posts be moved to a new thread as if anyone looks here considering an Auris, and sees the words FIRE!!!, they may jump to the wrong conclusion.

For clarity - it is Volkswagens that tend to catch fire, not the Auris. |

Holy Smoke!

You are just trying to undermine my confidence in my VW. I have only had two fires in my VW to speak of and they were not worth claiming insurance. In fact I took full advantage and smoked a few Kippers when the opportunity arose, so breakfast was very tasty on both occasions. I notice you boast of window blinds - your Civic sounds like a Conservatory on wheels and I would question the legality of such optionals. You also boast of a tow bar - is it on the front or the rear? Probably best on the front if you drive with all the blinds down. Yes VW checked the suspect earth connection, but I do miss my smoked Kippers! Keep smiling Alan, Eddie the Jett |

Eddie
I use the window blinds to look like cheap window tinting, so I can wear my baseball cap backwards with pride |

Sorry - back on the thread.
Mrs AW had an Auris as a loan car while her Aygo was in the garage and in her view (I didn't drive it). The engine was quiet (petrol), but there was a lot of road noise (and she normally dives an Aygo!!). The view out the back was better than the Civic, but the boot was smaller. The fuel guage is a silly 6 blob digital one so it is difficult to judge when low. I hated that on my Scenic. Overall I don't she was too impressed. |

Various posts which violate the 'no personal attacks / comments' forum rules (plus posts referring to them) have been recycled.
Whilst a lot of this thread is just good banter, some of the more recent ones have crossed the line into personal comments. Light hearted chat about the pros and cons of other cars vs the Civic help to keep the forum interesting and are more than welcome. Personal comments however, don't and aren't. |

My name is Ray and I support Birmingham City. Just a little play on words (and if you were a Blues fan, you too would try to disguise it!!). My reason for purchasing the Civic was simple, reliability. My younger brother bought his two years ago and has not had a single problem, unlike my Peugeot 307 that spent the majority of it's time in the garage. Fortunately for me, being rebuilt under warranty. I did have one of the first Vauxhall Corsa's in 1993. Like the Civic it had an Isuzu developed diesel engine. I had that car for 8 years with minimal disruption to my driving pleasure, and 120,000 miles on the clock due to following my team. I sincerely hope your VW is as trouble free as my Corsa, and I sincerely hope my Civic is blessed in the same way. Loving the banter on this site I must say. Ray |

I dont understand why anyone other than Father Jack would buy a car called Auris. Thus I never even considered it. CTR vs Golf GTi was my dilemma...
