Hello Neemstar,
Isn't Earth fun. You will love it so stay around
In answer to your question, it goes hand in hand - Owned one and was then converted to 'Habitual Hater' I exaggerate, but don't sneeze in case something falls off your Civic.

Cheerio,
Eddie the Jett.

Cheers Sal. Didn't want to ask the dealer, as my last stupid question was "why doesn't the central locking work" - reply "try shutting the boot door properly!" I am starting to feel very old.

I am so happy with my Jetta, I think I'll pop out and hug a tree - but certainly not the one you are barking up in your choice of transport.
At least you got home safely - shows the power of prayer, or has your handbrake been installed. Handbrakes are standard in the Jetta, not an optional extra like the spacesaver wheel!

Cheerio,

Eddie the Jett. Remember the Samaritans are only a phone call away.
Poor Eddie you venom is now totally clouding your judgement. Nothing wrong with my handbrake or my spacesaver. Certainly nothing wrong with my fuel consumption or the brilliant performance of the car and along with 100% reliability and efficient and friendly dealers oh and a car that is amazing fun to drive I don`t think I`m the one that`s missing out.
You are always welcome to visit and try the car for yourself or would that call your bluff.
Regards from your friend Jazzman

Eddie, hug the tree before Jetta car fires burn it down, and before you moan that Honda do not provide a spare wheel atlest there is a can of foam.
Perhaps you should push your dealer to provide you with some foam in the form of a fire extinguisher

Hello Alan,

Are you referring to the can of molasses supplied with the Civic, which makes a puncture irrepairable thanks to the goo you inject - Ask Kwikfit.
Best to spray it on your morning cereal - it's also nice on toast.
Fires in Jetta's - no problem. As for Civics - had the tee shirt. I couldn't stand the heat so I got out the kitchen into Volkswagen tranquility.

Cheerio,
Eddie the Jett.

That`s not misfortune that`s our Eddie buying a V tec and expecting it to perform like a diesel and then selling the car in under a year and wondering why the depreciation was bad all this of course being Honda`s fault but hey as longer he is happy slagging off the Civic and I`m even happier owning one.Still he provides a lot of amusement to the forum

Ah Jazzman,
You are the only one out of all my detractors who really understands me.
I suffer the slings and arrows of outrageous Civic owners and all I am trying to do is to make light of their problems - a sort of Agony Uncle where you can all air your troubles to me. I have Van Gogh's ear for tales of woe and airing your Civic problems to me is a sort of safety valve. I am much cheaper to you all than a month in a Betty Ford Clinic. So far I have councilled hundreds of lost souls on this site and it has been an emotional rollercoaster - without a decent handbrake I might add.
The queue is ever lengthening, but I am always available to you all.
I may need to take on an assistant soon.

Cheers Jazzman - you know I cannot fool you!

On the other hand, the quality wines were treated with great care in the preparation and selection of the best grapes to ensure customer satisfaction and that the product lived up to the label.
If only Honda had taken care that the 'NEW' Civic lived up to the quality label we usually expect. You know the difference having worked on both brands. The Jetta has a solid dependable feel to it compared to the Civic, but obviously you loyalty has to switch when you move camp.To be honest, both cars feel equally as solid and safe and in my honest opinion, with the Civic more fun to drive, more responsive, less 'wallowy'
My Son drives an Impreza which does exactly what it says on the tin, but the interior looks and is pretty spartan, but is unpretentious.. The Civic uses smoke and mirrors to make it look quality No smoke with mine and the only mirrors are for seeing backwards with, but it is only skin deep.As opposed to the Jetta that has no faults??
What idiot made it necessary to first remove the REAR centre cowling, remove the FRONT cowling, etc, etc to get at the radio to have a hands free phone kit fitted. Easier question, What idiot spends money these days on having a handsfree phone fitted to their car?? they are out of date by the time the last screws go in and invariably need updating as soon as a new phone arrives (bearing in mind these days most people change their phones every 12-18 months). The phone fitter says it's the worst design he has ever worked on.
Agree? probably you won't! you are correct, its not that I wont, more like i cant.

Eddie the Jett.
I take it that you are either unaware of the legacy of faults and problems with the Jetta or are you just conveniently forgetting them?? As a small tip, when you next get your Jetta serviced, make sure that they clear and replace the pollen/air filter - you wouldnt want puddles of water appearing in your footwells now would you???

It is all very pleasant reading. People so passionate about their cars.

At some point, but hopefully never, I may have a gripe about my Civic. There cannot be a single model out there that doesn't have a few rogues, recalls, manufacture errors & I am sure there are countless stories throughout the web describing them.

My choice was simple, great looking car... imo, fantastic engine... imo, one of the best residuals in class ...imo (& a few others) and importantly, it's fun to drive....and at the end of the day my opinion is the most important thing to me. Loving it!!!

Hello again Dan,
We will agree to disagree about the quality issue as Honda, sorry, Swindon expect every man to do his duty while flying the Honda flag above the garage. But having had Audi's, Beamers and VW, they all have one thing in common - a solid no nonsense chunky feel which is my first and lasting impression of German build, which was lacking in my Honda.
As for phone kits, I have always had Nokia kits, which charge as you go and when changing phones, all I do is buy the relevant Nokia holster on line for £20. The complete new kit I am having fitted is Bluetooth 2 compatible, completely legal, NOT a factory fitted kit, which as you say is obsolete before it even leaves the factory - I do my homework as well Dan.
My last kit which I left in the Civic lasted 4 years and it was the fitter who said the hassle and work involved in taking it out the Civic MAKES IT UNECONOMIC, hence the Bluetooth 2 kit going in next week.
Most of my comments on this website are as you may have noticed, are very much tongue in cheek and it is amusing how serious some guy's take it all - they walk right into it. I respect your views, as you have the advantage of hands-on in both camps and your loyalty is well placed. I am an Electrical Engineer who supplied an Italian brand of dental equipment for many years and you accept the built-in faults that every brand produces. That's what guarantees are for!

Cheerio Dan,
Eddie the Jett.

Hi Razorblewnose - What a name to conjure with! Any relation to Michael Jackson, as you seem to have similar afflictions. By a cruel twist of fate you seem to also have 'Horatio Nelson Syndrome' You know the one, wrong end of the telescope attached to the wrong eye when viewing your Civic. I hope you don't keep tripping over your Guide Dog.
Only joking old chap - go on and enjoy your Civic, it will make you appreciate your next car all the more.

Hi Alan,
I am glad you understand me, because my Psychiatrist doesn't.
It wasn't easy dealing with the BBC, but Percy Vere won the day, and now I peek from behind Annette Curtain in case the Civic unrest mob come after me, because most of you have your Edina Cloud - Ouch!
