Auris owners and Civic
Auris owners answer the question what other cars did they consider before buying Auris ? in their forum.
- Honda Civic – This was the car I nearly bought over the Auris. - Honda Civic- bit to expensive, many faults and unhappy users, handling on the road - Honda Civic – Worried about owner feedback on civic forum - Honda Civic 140hp petrol- gave up on it because it drinks too much and looks like a spaceship - Honda Civic (diesel) - still looks like a spaceship -Honda Civic- Looks great, but like I said I work for Toyota so when I can get a car cheaper from work why should I get something else? - Honda Civic – Terrible mileage. |

I considered the Auris along with a few other (C30, Astra) Found the Auris too... well boring, the test drive I had was nothing inspiring, the position of the gear strick and and handbreak are quite arkward if you're not very tall. It was cheaper than the Civic but a four month wait for Leather seats when I only live in the next county from the factory is abit of a joke.

I think one of the reasons that people join car forums is to trouble-shoot problems that their having with their vehicles. It was the same on the TDIClub forum that I used to contribute to when I had a passat, and the MKIVs forum for the golf that I had.
We all love to group together to bitch and moan, it's a fact of life! ![]() |

I challenge anyone to find a forum with no complaints or moans. Honda really has a lot to be proud of compared to most! |

In fact it does not look like any proper thing! I had read somewhere that Toyota was to launch Auris about the same time with the Civic. However, they postponed it for some retouches on appearance after seeing Civic being a visual hit. If this is the revised one, I wonder how the original was... |

toyota problems
I had a 2005 Toyota Rav4 XT5 before my honda, It had to have a replacement clutch at 5000 miles, had an engine problem at low revs and the final insult after 2 years of complaint was when their head mechanic said they couldn't sort out the problem so get use to it or get out of it. I got out of it and into my new Civic, love it to bits. Could never recommend to anyone buying a Toyota and as for the Auris, one ugly car. Sorry to all Auris owners.

Strange question, I doubt there are many Auris owners who read this forum. My daughter chose an Auris after driving my Civic a fair bit. Major reasons would be rattles and bad ride, yes the same complaints as me. She also considers that the Auris looks more modern and brighter inside. I really believe every Civic like mine is costing Honda sales.

I got as far as the sdealership, sat in an Auris, five minutes later was approached by a salesman and I told him "Sorry, just looking!" and left as quick as possible. I hate the gearstick position, totally stupid. I could never feel comfortable driving that car.

The Toyota forum is as boring as their cars. Brother, brother-in-law and sister have Toyotas. All have a whole string of problems including two new gearboxes, bumpers falling off, bad electrics and poor performance. |

Umph!! Also driven one with a D-4D engine. Needs petition to accelerate below 2000 rpm. The i-shift's delays in roundabouts are blessings from heaven compared to that! The trip computer is impractical to use, better shift between displays when not driving.

Probably not really appropriate for me because you're looking at Civic 5 door against Auris, but I checked out the Prius before the Civic Hybrid. The Toyota dealer couldn't be bothered getting a car to test drive and it was too expensive anyway, and the spec was abysmal for the money. A year later and I'm still very happy.
With regard to the Civic 5 door v the Auris, the Civic wins hands down, but should really come with reverse sensors as standard. Having had a 5 door for a while at work, the rear view is pretty awful. But I suppose it's one of those things that you get used to, and sacrifice for the greater good of the car itself. |
