IMO (of course!) the MX5 is NOT a sports car. Just cos a car says "sport" after it, doesnt make it so! But each to their own i suppose...

Yes the sound is amazing! Me and my Dad both love to hear the roar from the engine my mother thinks we are sad! Mmmmmm I may actually take this to work on Saturday and leave the CTR at home (weather permitting as I want the roof down!) Since its been back on the road my Dad has put the keys in my hand several times and i've said not today lol!!! I must be mad!!!

MX5 NOT a Sports Car?? Its based on the Lotus and has good perormance and is very 'chuckable'. This is what a Sports Car is meant to be. Just because its got a 1.8 engine doesnt mean its NOT classed as a Sports Car!! My MG Midget had a 1275 cc engine...BUT.. It was, in every way, a Sports Car I add this definition to help you decide: Quote:

It did look a bit strange going to the Honda Garage to eventually take the CTR out and turning up in a M3......Think some folk thought that I was trading it in for it.....hell no! Did look at a nice wee convertible for myself (although that wasn't practical at the time) but didn't see the point of having another 'soft top' when there was already one on the drive.....think my Dad just wanted me to get the SLK or S2000 so he could play with it |

I think MX5's are hairdressers cars!! You know you get an NC in "hair styling" as standard when you pick the car up
For a weekend car i would go for an elise or a TVR. Now theres a real sports car make- TVR. Def only a weekend car tho as they are not reliable enough to drive for any longer!!!!!!! |

You can see a pattern forming all German cars! My dad can't seem to go by a BMW even after all the issues he has had. He loves that CTR but wold rather I bought German, he even said how about the ST.....how about no! I wanted to look at the Skoda Fabia VRs but he told me I would't like it inside. Back on topic again, I know that they say that the MX-5 is the worlds best selling roadster but its A) Been around for donkeys! and B) rather cheap in comparison to other 2 seater sports cars that were out their before the market was flooded with these silly 206/207cc's etc but these new convetibles that everyone seems to have jumped on the band wagon with are not sports cars either as they have 4 seats......Now i'd rather have an MX-5 than a 207cc!!!! |
