Leather steering wheel

A question: I'm getting a leather wheel as part of the leather pack on the SE. In Honda's on-line e-brochure, they have a leather/aluminium wheel as an option. It looks much like the standard wheel that comes on the normal SE. So, which wheel will I get with the leather option AND is the wheel on the standard SE just a plastic one with the aluminium-look or is it in fact the leather/aluminium one (which I find hard to believe). Sorry - that was two questions.

None of the steering wheels have real aluminium.

"leather/aluminium" wheel seems to be an accessory. Normal leather steering wheel on EX is plain leather.

I actually like the SE steering wheel more than the leather ones.

'Aluminium' is the painted plastic trim which surounds the airbag and holds the swithes.

Also there is basically only one steering wheel. The leather one is the standard plastic one wrapped in leather, exactly as fitted to the higher grade cars.

So if you have driven a higher spec car or got a picture of one with a leather wheel then this is the one you are going to get.

My dealer changed the steering wheel on my Civic, because I hated the plastic one. It was a great investment (about €500), it's just more comfortable.

What they actually do is change the 'wheel-part' and keep the 'centre-part'. So it's not just screwing it on and off.

Pay attention to allignment: my steering wheel was a bit off-centred afterwards. It was fixed at the next maintenance.

Hi Simon.

I have a 1.8SE with factory fit leather.

Here's a pic of the steering wheel. Hope this answers your question.
