Cigar Lighter Replacement
Is anyone aware of a replacement piece of plastic instead of a cigar lighter? My dad's new Nissan Micra has what I would describe as a dummy cigar lighter which goes into the electric socket. I thought it was a nice touch (among the many nice touches on the car actually, it's a good car) as smoking in cars is pretty much a no no nowadays and who needs a cigar(ette) lighter, when it's only used to charge the sat nav or the phone? My local dealer doesn't think they do one, but maybe the CIVINFO members know differently, or know of a place I can get one? The car doesn't have an ashtray either so I really can't see the point of a cigar lighter and would happily dispense with it.

The mitsubitchi's I was climbing around the other week (long story, working on proving to the wife that a Honda IS the right choice for the next car) all had these plastic lighter thingies
might be worth popping into one to order as a spare part? |

Isn't there a 12v power outlet in the boot? Doesn't that have a cover on it? I know what kind of over you are referring to as the Mini used to do a Smokers and Non Smokers package which replaced the cigar lighter with a cover, but it also had a 12v socket in the book which also had a blank socket cover on it.
If the one in the Civic boot has a cover then more than likely this will fit to the one inside the cabin OR you could be like some of us on here and replace the lighter with a torch Last edited by angie4m; 30th March 2008 at 10:46. |

On the 'Does your ashtry smell' thread someone has said that if they remove the ashtray then they cannot use the cup holder.....in the words of one of my mates, booshank! Removing the ashtray means you have 2 equal sized cup holders! As the back one was bigger than the front one with the ashtray in. There is also a holder for a bottle in the door too! |

I forgot about the removable ashtray. Of course, there was a cylindrical ashtray which went into a cup holder in the centre slide along flap. That's tucked away at home somewhere, never used. I forgot about that! No socket in the boot of the hybrid I don't think, at least I can't find one, but I do know that ford must do one because they have the same thing in the transit with "12v" written on it. I think that's probably better because having something blank makes it look cheap, like it's an option you've not paid for, so don't get!
Thanks for all the replies..eBay here I come! |

Update:
Thanks for the replies, went to the local Ford dealers today and got a cap for the socket for £3.63! Simply has "Power Outlet" written on it, which looks great! I'll post a photo if anyone's really that interested...! |
