Magnetic GB Sticker

I'm taking my Civic to Dublin this week, so need a GB sticker.

Didn't fancy one of the self-adhesive ones, so went for the expensive magnetic variety only to discover the WHOLE of the rear of the Civic ISN'T metal.

D'oh!

Ooop! I knew that it was plastic, but one good thing about this post is you've probably just saved someone else from making the same mistake. Especailly if someone was going to be teaching someone to drive, those magnetic L Plates are great (although I lost a few on the A1 a few times) but they won't work with the Civic

GB Sticker

If the trip is going to be a regular thing it may be useful to invest in a pair of GB number plates with the gold star and blue background euro logo as I believe you don't need a GB sticker with those!

Correct, as long as its the ones stated above and not ones with Union Jacks, St. Georges Cross etc (But then nobody would take a union jack to Dublin, unless you have a death wish)

I don't know if they still do, but...Halfords used to sell a small blue GB badge that had a double sided sticky pad on the back. It would then just fix to the corner of the number plate. Is there forever if you want or just peels off after the trip.

It's not too bad now, just watch the murals to give you an idea what area your in, and keep your mouth shut

You could say the same about wearing a Rangers or Celtic shirt in parts of Glasgow

Same can be said for wearing a Rangers Strip in Dublin! You will find a Celtic shop and even Celtic shirts for sale in the sport shops but not a Rangers one!

Good thing I don't live in Glasgow and I support the Toon Army anyways

Isn't "Magnetic GB Sticker" a contradiction in terms?

On the extra plus side, you now won't be scratching the paintwork, which is what normally happens the second time you use it...

I thought about this. However, the Honda droid who made my number plate designed it such that:
a: The first letter is so close to the edge that there's not enough space.
b: The screw hole is even closer to the edge so there's even less space.

So, I'm left with a magnetic GB plate stuck to the inisde of the lower rear window with sticky tape. I'm sure a Civinfo sticker would look nicer there - and provoke much less sectarian damage to my Civic.

If you nip to Halfords or somewhere like that they could make you a fresh pair and the logo will fit in nicely with your numbers and I believe you may need to take your log book with you as this is now a legal requirement.

Then remove your old plates and use them as a template to drill your new holes and depending where these holes are you can get white, yellow, black and blue screw covers!

I just got a big old stick-on GB plate from Halfords for the holibags last year.
Stuck it onto the paint (bottom, left of the tailgate), went to la Belle France for a couple of weeks and took it off gently when home.
No damage, no mess, no problem - skoosh case!
